http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54146815 Can’t say I recall him that much. He was the hero of a relegation survival game versus Crystal Palace but I didn’t see the game but can recall the Western Mail pictures the next day. The oldies here probably can give more insight.
Oi, oldies? Cheeky whippersnapper. I was there but don't recall much of the game other than a very nervy 90 minutes. I'm sure BT can tell you more. My main memory is a bunch of Palace fans trying to kick lumps off my car as I was driving down Ninian Park Road. Wouldn't have been difficult as it was a Vauxhall Viva Mk. 1. RIP Tony. Another part of City's rich history.
Yes BT can tell you more. I would say that relegation match was one of the most emotional, if not the most emotional night, I have had watching the City. In my attic I still have the newspaper cuttings. I must dig them out one day, but the Mauve and Yellow Army board summarises much of my memories here http://mauveandyellowarmy.net/tony-villars-24-1-52-9-9-20/
