I am increasingly of the view that it is the culture of the club that is rotten now. We have had good players and managers come and go - all having 'failed' the club. They can't all be consistently bad. More and more posters are talking about how players come here and don't perform for us. I'm afraid I am more of the view that it must be the club and how it is being run behind the scenes that is destroying these professionals. It really needs someone who can be strong enough to see where the rot is and completely gut and root it out because nothing is improving and no one will want to come to this club if it continues this way. What a depressing situation after 4-5 years of so much hope and expectation.
I rather like this managerial approach:- Wycombe Wanderers 1 Aston Villa 1 Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth: "There's a couple of things that this draw will do. "I look at the finances of this club, I'm well clued-up on that as everyone knows. I'm involved in everything, right to the selling of the kiosks at the club shop. "I know the finances to the penny, so I know what this means for us and how much this will go to paying our debt off. "But I know what it's going to mean to some of my players too, boys who weren't told they were good enough at times, free transfers and this group of never-say-die Wycombe Wanderers players." please log in to view this image http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/35211388
The club needs it's image changed and fast regardless of the football It's been nothing short of a disaster When I meet Lee Hoos I will spell it out. I am back in the country end of next week You simply cannot have a set of fans who are looking to change the manager or set up after a few games It's the club's fault of course that has turned its fan base into a fickle bunch They need to re sell the club back to the fans or there will be none left Attracting new focus to our club is vital for the future. You cannot rely on sons and daughters for the next generation. It's all there ready to be manufactured IMO The club's image needs to be super slick, on the front foot and trendy at all times. Our current chairman has to put back in a box and never again use this football club to spotlight himself ... It's a PR disaster and he has no one to blame other than himself Go back just a year or so and SLF would of been fans first choice at our club ... He has always a legend here and yet today the fans want to eat him alive Let our new manager try and built his team with SLF , build the club's image to something worthy of our West London status and we can get back on track
Trouble is DT you are almost on the nail, then end hitting your own thumb. You cannot hammer the belief into people that Les has the credentials for the role, no matter haw many times its tried. DOF for a striking coach who has never managed is an odd match. Les should not have taken that role, by doing so it cost him his position of respect in the eyes of many. Some mistakes can't be 'fixed', while others can, and to be clear the PR disaster that is Steve Gallen is another example of a power struggle started by Tony employing too many cooks.
How many people won't turn up, apart from those who don't turn up anyway, for the next home game because of the PR 'disaster' of Steve Gallen? It won't have any material impact on the owners. In fact our attendances since Fernandes has been around are higher than when we last expected to win and had a decent player to watch, 2011. He can treat us like idiots because we are idiots. A few tweets might upset him a bit but that's it.
How is he treating us like idiots, Stan? We are not shareholders, at least not in a financial sense (we are of course shareholders on an emotional level). Why do so many seem to expect that we should be consulted in some way on club matters? How dare they sack Steve Gallen (if indeed that has actually happened?) - he's a Rangers man! We are not the idiots, the owners are. They have spunked £250m and got nowhere. How are we entitled to be so outraged at their incompetence? We just pay a few quid every other week hoping to be entertained. They didn't set out to **** us over. They want success as much as we do.
I'm a bit confused mate. Do you think Stan is saying that it's LF or TF that is treating us like idiots. I think Stan is saying it's TF and I think that you think he means SLF. I may have got this wrong of course.
I may be confused too Nines, I thought Stan was talking about Fernandes. Anyway, my point was more a general one about whether we personally are entitled to feel that we are being made fools of. It's their money. We can feel frustrated or even angry, but the outrage that some seem to feel (not Stan necessarily), about how the club is run seems to me to be over the top. They may be incompetent, but they are not doing it to spite us. They have the best intentions, but have ****ed up. What are we to do about it? I'll keep turning up.
I haven't thought it through, to be honest, I'm not sure QPR deserve coherent and dedicated thinking. Certainly I don't have the energy or motivation to devote to it, Damage is your man for that (OK, perhaps not coherent). I was referring to Fernandes, I'm a bit piqued about him moaning about our moaning. I think 'taking us (the fans) for granted' may be more accurate, but as DT points out we may be the last generation that works for. I found this funky site, and am now even more bewildered that someone can mention a 40,000 stadium in relation to QPR, where the highest average attendance in history has been 23,000, when we nearly won the league in a stadium which in those days could accommodate a lot more. I think. (I was right, capacity was 31,000. Funny, it always seemed full to me). http://www.european-football-statistics.co.uk/attnclub/qpr.htm And I can't tell if your tongue is in your cheek or not Strolls. Outrage, unrealistic expectations and cloying sentimentality is the birthright of the fan.
LR is old and outdated and football will only get bigger in the future. We don't need to get left behind even more. A new stadium with good facilities and a team playing good football will bring the punters in. Agree 40K at the present time is too much however you need to think of the future. You don't want to build a 25K stadium and then do well and not have the seats. I remember Fulham not even managing 5K or Swans even less, and look what's happened there. Besides Leeds have a 40K stadium and are getting gets in the 20K's so what's the harm just shut the top tier.
I agree totally. It grates losing. But to keep reading mock outrage - particularly on micro-blogging site Twitter - over every minor detail is just numbing. Still I suppose I could always switch allegiances and follow Manchester United.... Hold on a mo....
I think that the question that needs to be answered .. is what do we as fans, actually want from our club? I feel that Tony Fernandes took the piss out of us when he moved the goalposts. The remit before the start of this season was one of stability. Ramsey as manager, SLF backing him up with the club at heart and a club and game philosophy. We were to be excellent from our star striker right down to the the tea lady and the turnstile operators! With the exception of a few we all bought into that. A few players with something to prove acquired, mixed with some experience in the first team squad wasn't too shabby a deal. Eleven players wearing the hoops giving it their all. It's what most of us wanted compared to the last few years. Prem or not, we're no Johnny come lately's. But as long conditioned R's fans we know what we want. We were upper mid-table and then the transfer window shut! Green, Fer, Phillips & Austin all remained Rs. TF couldn't contain himself .. '' The Prem means everything to me.'' Suddenly the goalposts were moved. From being a mediocre Championship side trying to retain a semblance of stability, we were expected to try and go straight back up! Hold on a minute Tony ( and I know I've said this before elsewhere on here ) you now suddenly expect us to go up from a mid-table Championship position, but not from being 17th in the Prem last January when you didn't back the manager and with not one new signing! From this point the game was up. How could Ramsey readjust to this given his original remit? I can't quite put my finger on the point when the fanbase turned against SLF? The club wanted to bring in ex QPR players to give the club some self esteem and direction. SLF and Sinton were two of these that were well received at the time. At the time the fans were baying for some tradition to add to QPR and TF tried to address this. But now he's being accused of cronyism and jobs for the boys. As Stroller said, I'll still be going to the games whatever the situation. But the club need a blueprint and stick to it for a season at least. Oh and by the way @ELLERS ... We should have acquired the White City Stadium in 1985. We missed a trick back then. No residential housing surrounding it, perfect location and the ability for it to adapt to our needs.
