'value' has absolutely nothing to do with the price paid - OGS has brought very good players into the club...whether they represent 'value' remains to be seen.
Well Malky sure found that out and so did we. True to say both he and we paid for it too. I haven't got a crystal ball about the actual future "value" of players Ole's brought in, only time will tell, but they sure as hell haven't cost us as much to find out.
You are assuming 'value' is a monetary concept......I'm talking about a players 'value' on the pitch ie to the club as a player not an asset. As you mention Malky, the players he brought in whilst we were in the championship proved to be very valuable (we got promoted). If we get promoted then yes, I'll bow down to your superior knowledge...if we don't though......
I claim no superior knowledge, just an opinion on here that appears to be different from yours - nothing more. No need for that sort of petulant comment because someone sees it a different way from you.
Nice to get back to the subject DJ. Parish is the complete antithesis of Tan. He wont spend money he hasn't got, whereas Tan has the money and did. Once bitten twice shy for Palace. Simon Jordan had his fingers burnt when Palace were put into admin by that Hedge Fund a few years back and Parish won't repeat that sort of borrowing. Even though he only owns about a quarter of the club, he seems to call all the shots as chairman. Pulis wanted to build a Prem quality team after saving their bacon last season on the cheap - looks like Parish with possibly Moody doing the dealing in the background had different ideas as to the way to go. Whilst not being the most attractive manager in the footballing sense, Pulis has gone way up in my estimation for his stance.
That's an interesting thought Sparks. Who was actually throwing the money around with us? We all assumed it was the 2 of them with a gun to Teflon's head to sign off the payments. Did Moody do as Malky told him or were they really co-conspirators? Or has Moody the leopard changed his spots in the realisation that Parish has the power and better to be in with him than out - as is Pulis - and in the interests of self-preservation? Were Malky to get the job then we might get a clue to the answer. However, there are a whole raft of very capable managers being mentioned so perhaps Malky won't be the one.
Talk is that Parish wants to pick player to sign and there was a bust up over Wilfried Zaha, Pulis don't want him.
He was on SSN saying he need to 'talk to the manager' regarding Zaha about a week ago. I thought at the time he wasn't really a Pulis type of player so it was strange he was interested. I wonder if the money wasn't available for Pulis targets but would have been for Zaha? That would seriously **** you off if you were the manager.
