These players aren’t capable of anything more then they’re giving us. Too many of them can only play a style that involves them not having the ball. The fact he’s not trying to play a style that involves that speaks volumes about the research he did on them before taking the job. We’d ship 2x as many goals if we tried to play a possession style
3 players, 2 of which were the previous regime's targets, for a spend of 50k. Longman looks decent value for 700k but hardly strengthening the squad if he was here already. It was always about staying up this season and it looks like we will, so job done and roll on summer.
Really I thought it was about enjoyment and entertainment and getting the fans on the edge of their seat And about a manager signing players he wants and moulding them into his team Signing players that fits his philosophy and how he wants to play But ok we signed slater in an already too heavy squad of midfield players
Agree we have a dirth of midfielders. What you're describing is I'm sure the plan. Let's hope we get there. Probably takes more than a few days in a January window immediately following a takeover and years of disinvestment to achieve that though. I'm on the edge of my seat every time the ball goes into our box lol, but wouldn't say that was necessarily the kind of excitement we'll be recruiting for come June.
My bad, and I spelt it wrong too, though 'abundance' doesn't quite seem the word to fit either. A 'deluge' perhaps? Perhaps an abundance in number but dearth of quality in possession might be a more accurate way of putting it?
We signed four players right at the arse end of the window, not including Longman who was already here. Blackpool were able to operate in Summer with no restrictions and had half a season to bed those players in. There's no comparison to be made with Blackpool when they were able to sign players like Josh Bowler, Callum Connolly and Richard Keogh while we were signing cast offs from Portsmouth, Luton and Sheffield United reserves.
Keogh was a definite cast off ffs so why didn’t we sign better players in January to bed them in? dress it up anyway you like it was a piss poor window We should have got rid of some players too this move was months in the making They should have had a list of targets and acted swiftly The momentum of a surge up the league would have put more bums on seats
So all the players are **** & should be moved on then, Shota is perfect for shoehorning players out of their expected & best position & stuck at RWB or RB or any other position, because ALL the players can only play in one way. maybe he could put Eaves at CB & Greaves up front, after all Greaves hasn’t been caught offside & Eaves hasn’t given away a penalty. After all we’ve had no success this season when we’ve had 2 strikers close together to work off each other.
Think they lost out on a couple - Pesic being one for example. When you're coming into a window with only a handful days left it's not going to be easy moving for secondary targets without making overpriced signings for the sake of it. Also you can't move players on at the click of your fingers - Magennis had takers so he went. Cannon was made available according to HT2 but had no takers, hence he's playing u23's. You can only bring so many in without freeing up space before most of the squad is in revolt at having no chance to play, and you get similar problems bringing a handful in on massively disparate wages, and so on.... But if you want to write off the manager and owners already that's your call and the rest of us can look hopefully towards better things next season.
You think you can do all that in the just a few days before a window shuts having just been handed the keys to the club? Move over Pep....
You been patronising surely not do you even go to games? as a fan I can criticise what I like where did we write off the owner and manager? Can we point out what we see as mistakes ? Too ****ing right we can Recruitment was poor FACT
Whos getting personal? You have your right to an opinion and I have a right to disagree. Yes I go to games - not as many as I used to given I'm 200 miles away but have watched every minute of this season one way or another. Point out mistakes all you want - I may well agree as I have done with what seem to be duplicate midfield signings, but the post that hijacked this thread was stating the manager is out of his depth and the owners didn't do enough in the few days they had to work in the window. I find that criticism unreasonable and premature. You don't. Good for you.
It did one years ago - the FNMT & the ''And Now For Something Completely Different'' are still good threads though Kemps
