I know that most players have a reputation of not being the brightest but I refuse to believe that is the only reason. Surely they know they should be crossing the ball sooner when we have a striker on the pitch. They adapted well when we lost our striker through injury last season, they don’t seem to want to adapt back.

Honestly believe they were told not to get crosses in.

Better than Brazil 82 (well maybe not quite(. So many unbelievable moments since we have been back in the championship. Many more to come wity this squad too I am sure. I know I moan like an old woman about sacking Mowbray, just my opinion, but we still have the players here for someone else to help get better and better.

Look at how much quicker we moved the ball. Really not sure why we went away from that.

I think part of it is Mowbray evolving the way we have tried to play this season. Rolling Hume into midfield when we have it is parttl of it. Ekwah has also struggled to adopt to being deeper. I think Mowbray has seen a need to get Neil higher, which I wasnt convinced was needed. So much of our back to front play last season went through Neil and his thought process is much quicker than Hume or Ekwah for me. You also need to look at Roberts for me. Last season he just did everything quicker, perhaps down to Amad. He is one of a few yet to adapt to opposition knowing what to expect and Mowbrays different asks. For me anyway.

A player like Ekwah is really interesting to watch under a new coach. He had that languine style last year and it worked in the last 3rd of the season. I suspect a new coach will make demands on the intensity of our game. Mowbray called him out a lot last season on it, and he got the message. He needs to react again for me, because at times this season he has been a passenger in the central area.

Neil is a real conundrum as I think he would be better served playing higher up, but he does the deeper role so well.

Ekwah is a strange one as he as all attributes but seems to me to have a very small window of happiness in his role.

I can see why we bring the fullbacks inside as it attempts to allow ekwah and Neil licence to attack but that knacks our wingers.

There's so many ways you could change it round but in my head each way comprises our strengths

Having a natural anchor also frees either. We should have signed one.

Great post. The magic is putting together and nurturing brilliant people who have that talent and understanding. Get that right and incredible things can happen. Progressive is nothing but modern management bull reselling the same old question of how can we be better?

I honestly think Neil needs to left deeper. That Rodri role is tailor made for him I think. He has so much game awareness and his passing is just sublime. He did learn a bit of devil as well. I think holding players now are more play makers and dictate the pace of the game, more so than destructive players. Just my thoughts but Neil is the most important player in our side and he needs to be in the hardest position to play, deep lying.

aye for me we need a holding player, or even two, and then have two of Neil, Jobe, Adil and Ekwah in front of them, freed up to attack. With there being 5 subs now, if we used them properly then you could swap the two “8s” for the other two and rotate them properly.

this then allows the full backs to overlap which creates space for Clarke and Roberts cutting in.

I didn't think we had enough to not need one, but am big enough to admit I was wrong. We very much miss one or drop Neil deeper and his game suffers

Neil is the heartbeat of the team. You prefer him deeper, I'd like him more forward threading those clever balls through for the forwards..

Either position I personally think he stands out in

So would you agree things change around the way we play.
We seem to be playing great stuff then hit a wall.
    As most teams do.
So I ask was this a knee jerk sacking or a well thought out plan???

Wouldn't say it was necessarily a well thought out plan...but it was the plan. Soon as we had a run of poor results they always knew they would sack him. Which I agree with btw.
