I've just watched the Celtic game and there are several points to bring up, mostly concerning Mowbray's alarming decisions.
Not really my main crux of the article but worth a mention is how come Strachan was able to get the same team inherited at the start of the season by Mowbray to challenge (and shouldn't have really blown it last season) very strongly for last season's title yet Mowbray couldn't? I'm not one for buying into "Red Top" tittle tattle but there must've been some truth in him losing the dressing room. As said though, not really the main point of this article.
Second up is this transfer window. Most managers use the January window to fine tune / get in a bit of cover. Not Mowbray, he rips apart the side and attempts a complete rebuild halfway through the season? Absolute suicide, even in the SPL. I can't believe he ditched the main spine of your team so abruptly. Caldwell / McManus (not so much of a drama ole Mick though ), Robson (who is exactly the sort of tough-tackling, no-nonsense player you need in the SPL) and McDonald (I hated seeing him play against us or any other side as he is just like Boyd, you feed him, he scores) were players who you definitely needed in there to maintain some sort of stability through such a big transition and my feeling is that these transfers were a massive mistake.
Tonight, ffs, he (basically) goes 4-2-4 with a frontline made up of 2 brand new signings and the fairly recently used Costa! He should've used a bit of commonsense and NOT have thrown BOTH Keane and Kamara straight into what was a very important game. Keane was probably chucked in there to appease the fans no doubt but Samaras has experience of what it's like to play at places like Killie where you have to rely on a bit more than skill to get a result. It makes the selling of McDonald even more daft if you ask me. Totally naive to say the least.
Also what the **** was he playing at taking the armband off Loovens and giving it to Brown when he came on? Jesus Christ, why don't you basically say to Loovens "look mate, you're a ****e leader now **** off back to trying to defend" Diabolical man-management. Can you imagine what Loovens is thinking in the dressing room now? Confidence SEVERELY affected or at the least, his ample nose put VERY out of shape by such a decision.
Summary, Mowbray is both tactically absymal and pretty much utter guff all round. I really don't know where he goes from this game. He didn't help himself with his comments prior to this game either by saying "the gap is basically 6 points" (hinting that this game against Killie was a banker. Why didn't he just walk into the Killie dressing room and say "you are ****e and we are going to tear you a new on"? Tango & Sash wouldn't have needed to give any inspirational speech, just show the lads the vid clip of Mowbray saying that or show them the newspaper clippings. That all said, I'm still not going to count my chickens regarding the title destination but with Mowbray in charge, it's making it far, far easier for Rangers to win this year.

The 2nd rate team could be 3rd rate if Hibs win their game in hand Nev
