Summarise is the correct spelling NB and I was very happy with 3 winners a second and a third from my 5 horses advised in the Competition on Saturday...how did you get on ??

I know there are several posters here who agree with me that AP is the greatest NH jockey...for some reason too scared to say so...no matter....his actual records and achievements speak for themselves !

I actually think AP is the greatest NH jockey in terms of dedication, professionalism and ruthlessness, however I do think others can be seen as more stylish, for instance I think the way Ruby, Timmy Murphy and Paul Carberry ride is more pleasing on the eye and they have delivered horses on the biggest stage in breathtaking style.

It is all in the eye of the beholder, for me I would want Ruby on a chaser and AP on a hurdler, but for me the annals of history will show the greatness of AP in his championships and Ruby in his partnerships with horses like Kauto Star, Big Bucks and Master Minded.

 

Fair comment NB though we have to beg to differ about Ruby being better on chasers....your actual horse-ridden comparison evokes memories of the past....Pat Taaffe was the Ruby Walsh of the 50s and 60s riding great horses like Arkle,Flyingbolt and Fortria though Fred Winter and Josh Gifford were superior jockeys and both were Champion Jockeys 4 times over a 6 season period !

 

Im not sure champion jockey comes into it.. thats like saying Joseph o brien is the best flat jockey in Ireland??.. Personally id rather have Mr Geraghty over the two of them but thats just me...

Can't believe my simple opinion that Walsh is the most naturally gifted jockey of his generation has kicked all this off!

Unbelieveable, I'm not for one minute dismissing AP obvious ability, his horsemanship is just not as good as Ruby's and surely this aspect of being a jockey underpins all the other abilities you need. You can talk all you want about numbers and statistics, but just WATCH each of them when they ride, and tell me who is the better jockey.

JL ...your comment about Arkle confirms your lack of knowledge to me so how can you expect me to take anything you say about anything seriously here ?
