I like Adebola most of the time but i find him to be painfully slow both in pace and to react to certain balls etc.. That said, i've never questioned his effort and he is a serious pain in the aris for most central defenders so he's another i'd probably save for West Ham just to kick it up the confidence shy Premier boys for the afternoon.
For ****'s sake, does ANYBODY know what team Billy will put out? Wouldn't be surprised to see Tyson given a rest tonight actually please log in to view this image
Mark, I reckon Adebola and Earnie work so well together because defenders see the size of Adebola and get drawn towards him, so 2 or 3 defenders will all focus on stopping Adebola leaving plenty of room for Earnie. And Earnie is not the kind of player you can just leave unmarked in the penalty area
I'd personally like us to play Earnie and Tudgay tonight and try to have it won by half time. I'd choose our strongest line-up tonight rather than against West Ham on Saturday. A win tonight is so huge as it's our first game in hand over the others and that's why I think strongest line up, come ou flying, get a couple of early goals and game over by half time . But, these type of games worry the hell out of me when we should be winning .......
Agree completely Reds but BD is not going to start Adebola 2 games on the trot. Just my opinion but i think that Adebola would be more effective against an albeit poor premiership defence than a reasonably poor Bristol defence. I believe Tudgay and Earnie would do more damage against Bristol. Even though West Ham are poor they are still up against very quick and very clever strikers all season and just think Adebola would be a prospect that they are not as used to. Granted you've got the like of Heskey and Davies et al but generally its a more clever striker in the Premier and not so physical. If i could be bothered it would be worth seeing how the physical teams have done against West Ham i.e Bolton compared to the more creative i.e. Liverpool. I cant be arsed to be honest but i bet Billy has
Trees - you have a right to worry, everytime we played a game in hand last season and had the chance to go 1st/2nd we always fluffed it!
