West Ham would be a laughing stock if they didn't get the title after taking the promotion or bust route. Kevin Nolan on what, 50k a week? Enough strikers to sink a ship? If they don't win the league i'll run around Gunwharf with a Saints shirt on. Oh, and control the controllables.
Apart from the goal difference. A WH win was not a bad outcome, especially with the Green red card. Shame that the other results went the way they did, but you would have expected Brum and Boro to beat Barnsley and Millwall, respectively. Birmingham seem to be our main threat at the moment, however I just feel that their small squad and hectic fixture list will catch up with them by the end of the season (fingers crossed), if not then and they finish above us, they will have deserved it. Reading are still a threat of course, as well as a few others with games in hand. But so long as we keep winning, that's all that matters.
Put a bet on Napoli, West Ham, Brum and Boro to win tonight to soften the blow if it all went wrong for Saints.
i'm sure that blackpool would have pissed it- playing against 10 men with a makeshift keeper, if only they had one of the greatest talents that this country has ever produced playing for them- oh wait, they did
I listened to the whole game on the radio, and to be honest it sounded like the red card played with blackpool's heads - or more accurately, lansbury playing in goal played with their heads. That said, huge credit to west ham for holding out and it was a thoroughly deserved 3 points. Just like against us last week, they were completely dominating until they went down to 10. They don't just appear to be coming right into form (and form which is too good for thiss league i should add), but they're picking up points from difficult situations. 3 games, a red card in each, and yet 7 points picked up. I'll be amazed if they miss out on automatic promotion now. Just hopefully they can do to our other rivals what they did to blackpool today. Of course blackpool losing is great, but birmingham and boro both winning tempers this some what. Three points vs watford please lads!
GK sent off for West Ham... I hope Nigel is watching this and see what can happen if you lose your goalie...providing you're playing a decent side. What were Blackpool doing for heaven's sake? Green missing for a couple of games could be good news for us.
Whilst its still in our own hands right now. It still requires us to win 14 games to keep it that way going by the current form of Reading and Birmingham. We cant take anything away from West Hams result tonight. They've beaten a top side away from home tonight and at a disadvantage. At present we can't say we have done that so credit where it's due. There's going to be some twists and turns before the end of the season yet but I'm almost certain we will need to to get 2 away wins out of the following games - Leeds, Blackpool, Hull and Boro. We're capable, but are we really capable? It's nerve-racking knowing how much each game now counts towards our ultimate goal but I have faith. I gotta have faith f faith ff faith.
I'm sure Nigel's aware. And to be honest, in all seriousness, I hope it doesn't change his mind - it certainly hasn't changed mine. These things happen once in a blue moon. I'd much rather have that extra, fifith outfield option available to me. As for the suspension, would it not only be a one game ban? I thought professional fouls were only one game? It wasn't dangerous or malicous. He was just last man.
Thought you got 3 games for a straight red..may be wrong. I also agree about not having a spare GK on bench..gives us another option, but I hope we have a player who can step in if must.
Isn't it weird how another team's result when we're not playing can make people on a forum so negative. Anyone that thought West Ham were going to go on a losing streak was and is wrong. Their squad is just too strong and they are pretty much certs for automatic promotion. The only teams that I feel could challenge us for the remaining automatic place are Birmingham and Reading. And we are better than both.
3 games for violent conduct or serious foul play or use of offensive or insulting language or gestures. 1 game for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity and 2 yellows unless you've had more than 1 red in the season in which case you get an extra game
If every person on here was positive it would be a pretty boring forum. You need balanced opinions to create interesting debate. Everyone is entitled to have there own say and no-one has the divine right to dictate how another should think.
That's not the case. 3 game ban is for violent conduct, Green's would have been for denial of clear goalscoring opportunity. That's a 1 game ban. Not that it matters, they'll probably make a loan bid for Pepe Reina anyway
No need to jump down my throat, eh? I understand what you're saying but there's nothing we can do about other teams' results. Deal with it and move on.
