I've lost count of the times I've said this but I still cannot see why we let Dovey go. He's the same age as Butland, was voted Eastleigh's best ever goalkeeper last year and (so I thought) was highly rated by the coaching staff. To me, it seems like the perfect match for our current situation; one more year from Davis with Dovey playing the odd game etc, and then in a year or two he could step up. It is especially puzzling when we have stated that we want to get 50% of the team coming through the youth ranks.
Mail gave good write up...back in the big time. Mention of clever free kick routine which didn't quite come off..interesting. I don't know what to make of Forecast. I assume he knows he's rubbish, but is putting the money away whilst he can. If he's smart he will have prepared for life after football.
he was truly dreadfull last night, and the ironic cheers when he actually caught the ball were deserved. The crowd did not give him any real stick, as anytime the ball went near him there was a hushed expectation of a calamity! the funniest bit was when he slipped on his arse going for the ball - priceless. My missus, bless her, as she doesn't go to many games (last one was Matties testimonial when i had to answer 20 questions:- who's that? - Alan Shearer, who's that? Matt le Tissier) asked why we had an old man in goal for the second game!
Maybe he just wasn't Saints first team good? Maybe he didn't see a future here? We could sign any old keeper if the brief was "better than Forecast". Butland isn't internationally recognised for nothing and very good keepers just don't come around that often, even in a top class academy.
Maybe his face just didn't fit. If he was that good another league side would have snapped him up not Eastleigh!
Thought he was commonly known as Tommy Fourpast ? I did feel a bit sorry for him last night with the ironic cheers and jeers. God forbid we don't get another keeper and he remains our number 2. Any ill founded confidence he did have is surely gone!
Was sat in front of Bart during both Saints game. Had a conversation on how it was going at Notts etc. I think he felt a little for TF!
I fail to understand why, if TF is as bad as we think, we haven't got shot. Even if it meant paying up his contract.
Because Nicola likes value for money. If we have to pay Tommy anyway and he can move cones and act as a practice dummy in goal, he'll keep him.
And if he sprains something when attempting to do something well we still pay his wages and then for scans and medical expenses.
