Well yes, Rodgers does deserve patience. It's not just the fans who didn't give Kenny patience that are saying that. I think the most of us who wanted Kenny to stay are hoping for patience but remain just that... hopeful. What if we go on a bad run again? I can guarantee you many will come out of the wood work saying "we shouldn't have gone for Rodgers", "I wanted Klopp","I wanted Mourinho", "We should have brought Rafa back". MFG you are still bitter about Kenny's departure and just come across like you are not willing to give Rodgers a chance before he has had a competitive run of games. I understand the cynicism towards the owners as it seems to be an opinion shared by a few.
So we just stopped trying to win league games for the last 5 months of the season because it was beyond us to reach 4th position or make any improvement on the 6th place finish of last season? That's hardly the attitude I want from a LFC manager. I'm not saying that buying players will instantly achieve success or that they will hit the ground running. But when you spend the same amount that Kenny did, as quickly as he did, on British players who were accustomed to the league (therefore supposedly reducing the settling in period), then the least I expect is an improvement on last season's league position.
Theres been some silly myths flying around that Kenny got sacked for wasting millions and all his signings were cack. Kenny did make a mistake in the transfer market, it cost him £6.75 million he's called Charlie Adam. Now Kenny we'll say signed 5 players, and one of them is a turkey, by the law of averages thats acceptable. Is that really all that bad? If you look at Arsenal 75% of their last summer signings were flops. Gervinho is useless, Park Chu Young is worse and Arteta is injury prone. The only one that was half decent was Mertsacker. Thats a 1 in 4 success rate. Compare that to a 4 in 5 success rate. The others are good players that just disappointed, who's to say that the others will improve 100% in the new season?, With the tweaks that Brendan Rodgers makes will ensure that we've a better season.
