Excellent news...much preferred him to Bolger...but then I'd rather have them both to Saturday's pairing!

We appear to have paid a lot of money c£200k with sell ons,Parkes is definately a good central defender hopefully he will link up well with Kenneth and Paterson.
Paterson can now play in his more normal position that Brown occupied on the weekend.

So if woodards returns we can have a solid back 4!

Looking much better

I think 200k on Parkes is far better gamble than 200k on ****-staple <ok>

True but 200k for a player who hasn't played a full season of league football is a bit of a gamble IMO, better if it was just a season loan deal and then decided on a permanent move that said it strenghens our defence a bit more, still think we need another CB can't see Virgo lasting much longer.

We got Kenny, so hopefully he proves good enough, but your right, Virgo will not be anything more than a back up player. MM has said today that he will not sign any more players, at least until January so we need to ensure Kenny and Parkes stay fit. Parkes looked the part last season for the main part, but I was hoping to get Bolger back as well :(

here is what mcghee has said...

And the manager has confirmed that he will not be pursuing any other signings for the immediate future, as there are players he expects to step up and prove themselves.
Mark said: “I still feel that Eliot Richards has got a contribution to make and we have to find a way of putting out a team that gives all of the forwards the best chance of scoring a goal.
“I want to find out about them, and the system that gives them the best chance possible before I rush out and get anybody else. I am not in any rush to do that today.
”We have people in the squad who are still to prove themselves up front, and we will run with that before we go out and look for someone else. At the moment I will go on with what I have got.”

i dont understand how we can spend all that time (1st rejected offer on 30th may to last rejected offer on 17th aug) chasing a striker willing to spend up to £200k on him and now all of a sudden we dont need any new strikers but instead we will go with what we got! that sounds so stupid.
obviously spending money on parkes has used the money mcghee had available to use. his signing will make us hard to beat again. strong at the back but up front we are struggling.
last 5 games....
0 goals vs 82ers
1 goal vs coventry
0 goals vs gloucester
1 goal vs ipswich which 9/10 would of missed.
0 goals vs oxford.

we dont look like scoring either. so i still expect 2 more in the door regardless of what mcghee has said. but i think will be loans though - a CM and a CF. i think our attacking options in midfield and up front has 4/5 games to prove themself to mcghee. but im not filled with confidence going by our scoring recored since pre season.

It seems that we have a number of players who need to step up to the plate and perform in the striking department,Clarkson,Anyinsah and Richards.

Its the midfield where we are suffering and Lund needs to find his form we have not yet seen Clucas.....Brown lacks in most depts good job he only has a 6 month contract he leaves huge gaps in the middle and provides no cover for defence.

Gill is better served doing the dirty work like Campbell did as we no longer have Stanley Anyinsah does also not provide cover so I would possibly sacrifice him for Richards or Clucas alongside Lund.

Its funny if the defence gels then we have a good platform however agree with CJ the Midfield could do with some strengthening if the others do not provide the cover and attacking links required.

Broghammer looks as if he will only get better as the season progresses and he develops an understanding with his teammates,we also have Brown who played in defence prob better in midfield so we do already have some different options hopefully fitness levels improve and a settled side emerges.

Remember its early days.

I quite like the look of this midfield

Anyinsah----Brown----Lund----Broghammer

Looks a creative midfield going forward and with a defence of Kenny and Parkes at the back (when fully fit obviously) we should be good enough to keep a lot of sides at bay providing we have the ball for the majority of games.
