I never mentioned first team, so White and Becchio would be good to keep around in the squad. Somma is a quality super sub too. The rest can definitely pack their bags. While Brown has been good since Colin came in, at his age his days are numbered. Including Danny Webber who I still believe has been showing excellent promise, I make it 10 out of a 28 man squad. It's only 25 if you discount players who never made it on the pitch this season (Somma, Turner, Turner). That's a ****ing poxy squad. bates can get ****ed with his "large, expensive squad". I just counted on the official website.
Thanks for sharing that. Does Sky in NZ show many more Championship games than anyone else? I had no idea the game was being shown anywhere. I usually find streams if there is a telecast somewhere.
I had a quick look for the Forrest game but could only find the audio as well. Found the hammers game though via FOX
Yea that was on TV in aus, we get quite a few games over here that are not shown in England. I suppose your right though Marko, for building a squad you can add in white (in the hope he continues to improve) Becchio, Somma and Webber. Brown may be pushing it for another season but then again there are older players playing in the Prem. It still leaves a hell of a lot of work for Colin to fix it up in the summer though
Sommas having another operation. Must be gutting for the lad that hes missed over a year just when he was looking like breaking into the regular 1st team
Doesn't matter how old Brown is when he's been playing the way he has since Warnock came in. Keep in mind he's effectively got the fitness of a younger player due to never having been injured, or at least nothing more than a niggle.
Yea but as players get older they do get worse quite drastically, I do think he has another season in him though but no more than that and I think he shouldn't be a first choice in a team trying to get promotion
I understood the signing of Brown as i thought it would help to eliminate the sort of result we suffered the other night, but he should have been added to our young midfield of Kilkenny/Clayton, Johnson and Howson to challenge them for places and play a small part. Not come in and completely try and replace Johnson (24 year old) when he hadn't played for months at Pompey. Unfortunately we can't keep up financially with players that progress and as soon as they improve and want more money they are out of here. Anyway it will be good to see if we can replace Gradel and Howson in the summer, personally i'd have tried to bring in replacements for this season, but when your only paying £750 for a season ticket you can afford to have a transition/waste of a season.
Think he has for the most part, but got a couple of bad ones at fulham. Wiki says his fulham career was 'plagued by injury' too
JohnnyLA, nah most games shown in NZ are just the "big six", with the occasional lower league game thrown in, however we do get an hour long championship review show. so cant really complain. FOXsports in Aussie has one of the best football coverage that iv seen
I'm not sure whether it is form, or class, but Tom seems to be losing the plot. With Brucey and Robbo, it was like keystone cops at times. Unfortunately, he's no young Kilgallon or young Woodgate
I haven't seen enough of him play to be honest but from what I have seen I have to agree, nurturing and bringing his game on is one thing but I hope nobody is expecting the end result to be a Woodgate. We seem to have had more than our fair share of 'promising' only for our hopes to be dashed.
TBH, he's simply a wee boy that needs a rest. He was thrown in at the deep end, without warning, and before you know it, he's a regular. Not a hint of nurture. but we can't rest him at the moment, as we don't have a ready replacement available atm.
We can rest him because the season is dead. We must look longer term. And longer term, he would be better off with a break and some one-to-one coaching
Agree with you all of the way apart from one thing - I can't allow myself to believe that the season's over. It's certainly not over mathematically, and no other team seems to want to be in the playoffs, so I hang onto that slim hope (honest, I'm not normally this optimistic. I'm a Jock, it's my job to be dour).
He was nurtured pretty well in the rough-and-tumble environment of a League Two promotion battle. He's definitely a junior defensive partner though, and the elusive 'big ****er' you, me and everyone else has been screaming for for way too long now needs to show up in order for Lees to play at his best level. Remember he was playing with man mountain Efe Sodje in his Bury spell and that was partly the reason he looked so impressive there. They had a very good understanding in the (admittedly single) game I watched Bury play last season. He needs that communication and consistency now at Leeds, or he'll continue to flounder. At least we've seen he has what it takes to do well in certain Championship games so we don't need to loan him out again.
