Fairenough he'd probably be ok then, Im hoping bruce changes the way we play and stops been so reliant on bradys/elmos crosses and we try and attack down the middle once every Sheffield flood
If we persist with the one dimensional crossing from deep tactic, then it might be an idea to have more than one or two people in the box to aim for.
The first time I saw Rhodes play live I was impressed by his ability to challenge in the air, but that's because what I'd read and heard about him I was expecting a nippy little fox in the box type player. He didn't seem to be particularly strong in the air but he did beat Jack Hobbs to a header that game so he can get on the end of things.
What we really need is a central midfielder making late runs into the box. Someone like Liam Trotter would be good for that, big to get on the end of high balls but mobile enogh to actually get there.
Yep. We need midfielders willing to gamble. Baffling to base your tactics around crosses into the box, but have no ****ed in there to get on the end of them.
Thing is, our plan A, also known as the only plan, really should be plan B. Plan A is something like trying to pass it through the middle or getting your wide men driving to the byline, before pulling back a cross. Sure, throw in the occasional deep cross. But generally it's what you do as a last resort.
I totally agree, crosses pulled back from the byline are difficult to defend against, our deep crosses must be the easiest to defend against, defenders have time to adjust their position and time their leap.
It does look like he's gone... Tom Ince: Derby County trigger Hull City winger's buy-out clause Derby County have met the buy-out clause for Hull City's Tom Ince and could sign the winger for a club record transfer fee of more than £3.5m, BBC Radio Derby reports. Ince, 23, scored 11 goals in 18 games on loan at the Rams last season and has a year to run on his Hull contract. But the loan agreement is understood to have included an option to buy. Derby's record fee is £3.5m for Robert Earnshaw in 2007, but a sum of up to £6m for Ince has been reported. Former Derby head coach Steve McClaren confirmed the club wanted the ex-England U-21 international to return to the iPro Stadium in May. And the appointment of new manager Paul Clement has not changed their stance, with new signings Darren Bent and Alex Pearce also having been identified before Clement took over. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33093560
I dont really care if he goes on to get player of the season for the whole division, £6m (if true) is a fantastic fee when he's got 1 year left on his deal and almost certainly wont sign an extension. If we keep him he'll either be ace and not sign to go to a bigger club or he'll be ****e, wont play and wont sign as he goes to another club. Bank it.
£6m is decent cash for a player not wanted by Bruce. Sell him plus Hernandez and AN Other and look for three quality replacements to add something to the side.
I've posted this till I'm blue in the finger tip whenever people **** about Brady. Yes he's good but he very very rarely gets to the byline cos he's so slow and instead crosses from deep, plus we have Robertson who is potentially better than Brady. If we had to sell one big player this summer and could get £8m, for me it would be him.
I'd have been satisfied with half of that. edit - hang on, there's no sell-on percentage to Cesspool is there?
To get £6m for a player not in (or likely) to be in our team is great business. Close the door on the way out Incy wincy spider. Another one who thinks he is better than he really is.
Does anyone know if this trigger is a general trigger in his contract or was it a trigger agreed only with Derby as part of the loan? If it's the latter I wouldnt be surprised if we announced this news to media to alert Newcastle and Ince would almost certainly reject Derby for them and McLaren. We might yet have a bidding war here....
