So you think United's rivals want our players to be top quality? Seems an odd viewpoint but whatever gets you hard in the morning!
Rivals would be delighted if Rooney carrick scholes etc transferred club form to national level. Still obsessed with plums and hard ons I see now Matthew is back
That won't happen unless Fergie becomes England manager. Remember Rule 12. We don't want that filth on here. Keep it to your own forum you disgusting Chav. Cheers.
I wonder how many fellow United supporters regret us allowing Pogba, Morrison and Gibson to leave, in the trust that Cleverly will come good. Pogba was a natural playmaker, Gibson was nothing spectacular but a good passer, I never saw much of Morrison though. Having seen almost 2 years of our boy Tommy, I haven't seen anything new from his first match, and his lack of adventur so far means I doubt there is much to come. I think, it is best if we give his place to Powell now so that he can have more of an impact next season.
Would rather have Cleverley than Gibson. So the lad has had a few off games, give the guy a break! I remember when he was on form there was a lot of people praising him no end, comparing him to Wilshere and stuff! Amazing how quickly people change their minds and turn on players. He is still young and I believe he will become a solid player.
i believe Cleverley was great against Real Madrid, he was good at intercepting and made some important vital clearances, he was good against Real Madrid until the red card and you cannot blame in because Cleverly after the red card had to do two jobs, he had to cover the left side as well which was always difficult for any player. Against Chelsea he did hae a sloppy game but at the same time, everyone was sloppy in that game so it is harsh to put all the blame on him.
Gibson a great passer of ball !!! you mean shooter .. aren't you? he was average at best in other areas aside from shooting Pogba play maker !! WHAT? and he didn't leave bcz of cleverly !! cleverly was average in Chelsea game, but was very good player , his awareness of people around him, one touch passing to keep fluidity and hardwork are very useful for the team, he scored some good goals too .. i like th guy
Pogba left for money. He'll claim it was for playing time, but he would have broke through into the first team this year had he stayed. Morrison!? he's gone because he wouldn't put in the work. Gibson I think was treated a bit harsh, but is plaice Cleverly over him every day of the week.
Pogba forced his own way out of OT despite offers and pleas to stay from the club. The guy purely wanted money. Morrison is a prat and chances are will self destruct in the not too distance future. Gibson wouldn't even dignify that one with an answer.
Can only echo what other posters have said. Pogba is a bad loss, as he's a talented player and has shown his quality for Juve. But ultimately he wanted to leave, ran his contract down and didn't listen to our offers for a new one. And he proved he was a mercenary in the way he joined us from Le Havre - wouldn't be surprised if he ****ed Juve off for more cash in a few years. Morrison is just a bad apple. Sold because of his bad attitude, loaned out by West Ham cos of his bad attitude, almost had his loan to a mid table Championship team cancelled cos of his bad attitude. The talent is there but the brain is not. Wouldn't be surprised if he ended up as the next Joey Barton - tweeting from his prison cell about how he's the best player in England. Cleverly actually reminds me a lot of a younger Gibson, and a younger Fletcher too. All three showed lots of promise, all three have a good attitude and are top professionals, and all three were slated by some of the fans as not being good enough. The problem Gibson had is that he let the criticism get to him a bit imo, and started playing like he was scared the fans would have a go at him if he put a foot wrong. Whereas Fletcher kept trying and getting stuck in and ended up at a very high level before his illness. I reckon Cleverley is somewhere in between the two at the moment - has the chance to go the way of Fletcher, but if fans keep sticking the knife in after every bad performance he'll never have the confidence to actually be more adventurous. Part of the problem is our fans were spoilt by Keane and Scholes for so long - we need to accept that they were the best of their generation, and among the best ever, and there will probably never be another pair of midfielders as good as they were. That way some fans can stop judging (and rejecting) every young midfielder we have based on impossibly high criteria.
i have to say i have a very high opinion of Cleverly and am a little perplexed by some of the recent criticism, its been no surprise to see that when he and carrick have played together most games we have done well, and has played in a lot of the big games this year. he seems to do most things right, and i can seldom think of many mistakes he has made, and cant pin point any particularly major ones for that matter. i have to say i am impressed that for an english center mid he seems quite happy passing the ball around especially in tight spaces, beats the usual mold of english midfielders and perhaps a sign that there will be more players of his ilk who are actually proficient in possession to come in english football. Comparing his progress to other young center mids to have graduated from the youth set up to have the role and performances he has managed in his first proper season with us that hasn't been hampered by injury i think he has had the most effect and has cemented himself in Sir Alex's first team much quicker than the likes of Fletcher. With a few more improvements to his game, he could be a really potent player.
Great post. Agree with pretty much everything. No idea where all this stick is coming from? He's had one bad game and all of a sudden he's terrible.
When Cleverly first came onto the scene, he was being labelled as a great prospect, the saviour of the Utd midfield and the next Paul Scholes. While I don't he will ever be the saviour of the Utd midfield or the next Scholes, he has shown potential in what is his first proper full season. And as Swarbs said Utd fans were spoilt with the Keane/Scholes partnership. SAF just needs to buy him some boots he can shoot with
Pogba left because of a lack playing time compounded by bringing back Scholes instead of giving him a chance. He felt slighted and the trust (deserved or not is irrelevant) was gone.
And then asked for a paycheck that he didn't deserve. He was offered a new deal, but wouldn't sign it unless he would get payed more money.
Except Rooney earns what he makes. Pogba played for the reserves with a few cup appearances and want a salary of a first team regular. Rooney wanted the salary of a superstar. Clearly Rooney's performances and stats back up how much he earns.
I have to disagree that Cleverly is good enough to play for United. I just don't see where he can grow as a player. Two years and he hasn't improved a bit. The problem is, what is the lad's strength? When you see Rooney as a youngster, you could see that power, strength, grit, work ethic etc. And lets say Rafael, fearless, adventurous, in your face type of player. But with Cleverly, and believe me, all he does is play the safest of passes. A little pressure, and then his game is useless. Or maybe the rise of Kagawa, who is so natural on the ball, has prompted me to think so. Anyway, Clev needs to up hos game pronto.
The fact that he can not only play the safe passes, but can play then quickly and effectively is why he's good enough to start. That's been our biggest problem the past few years was we didn't have people who could do that. We look a much better side when we have multiple people in the team that can keep the ball moving and retain possession.
