Lot of spurs fans choked about Carroll being out on loan to us , given the game he had against Arsenal and how the guys playing ahead of him on the weekend did for the spurs Some worried about us possibly signing him .Should be looking to sign him in case he gets to much better...lol
Dragon - Monk must have read your post and had Montero doing extra practice sessions on crossing the ball !
Mild to moderate, footballers are athletes, over indulgence in weight training would be bad for a footballer.
I think he played very well Roof, as did everyone on Saturday. Not sure about him being key for us though. I like him but he's still got a lot of developing to do and there are people ahead of him, imo, like Leon and Shelvey. I've heard a rumour, and that's all it is folks, that Amat is training/learning with Leon on the finer points of DM. An interesting idea I think, but a long long way from fruition.
I know what you mean Phil, but take a look at Christiano Ronaldo's torso and I don't think he's been doing mild to moderate weight training! He's put a fair few shifts on the heavier weights in the gym.
Wow!...kinda makes sense stumpy , considering after Laudrup used him in that role , Monk used him also for a game .The thought might be lingering with Monk .Would have thought its a "" Smaller"" type player role .Monk might have had a change of heart after Carroll's performace against Arsenal , certainly worth keeping an eye on though .. cheers
Musty, my lad at Portsmouth has two gyms sessions a week. I know the first team also use the same gym. They use it about 3-4 times a week, not massive long sessions around an hour each time I'm told.
He seems to reads the game well Roof, tackles and is safe in possession. Personally I think he's a couple of inches too shy to dominate in the box. Too good a prospect not to play him though, maybe Laudrup and Monk see this too. Either way, CB or DM, he's worth developing.
So ... what are our options on Carroll. Is he here just for game time or do we have options to acquire in Jan or the summer. I think he would be a good investment - clearly a good fit to our style and plenty of upside. I also like Stumpy's news on Amat if true. This is a player with too much ability to sit on the bench if he is flexible enough to play in other positions.
I dont think we will get tom on a permanent if he keeps playing well as spurs will surely want him back. They have made a few cock ups with us already so i dont think they will want to do another..
It is just that Stereo, just hearsay but I was told that Britton was training with Amat, teaching him finer points of the DM role. Like I said, it is a rumour, no more, and I relayed it to see what others might think.
I think I'd make Spurs an offer for Carroll in Jan and see what they say. Can't hurt. Maybe they'd appreciate some extra cash to splash on whatever body they'll be wanting to add in the window.
