You're right of course Bergkamp. Ecclestone is the best salesman, but of course he is also essentially the 'manufacturer' of the goods and he also supplies them. He is in a sense, the complete businessman. What I was trying to emphasise was the sense of the middle-man in response to Ernie's provocative question. i.e. that Todt tends to mediate between the ideas of others, 'selling' the pros and cons between camps and oiling everyone else's cogs. Perhaps 'salesman' was an over-simplification. Then again 'mediator' seems too complimentary for such ineptitude when less protected from himself by a stronger team, as was the case when at Ferrari.
