......and the obliging Everton not able to do them a favour on Sunday. Big Sam had the mettle for a relegation scrap, Rafa didn't, so I imagine moving on with a likely relegation clause in his contract. Martinez should also be toast, especially if relegated Norwich cream them in the final match.
Sam always the man for that situation no matter what you think of his tactics. Rafa will be off for another lucrative contract in Europe somewhere and Martinez will be down the job centre
Interesting with the now meaningless final day matches that Norwich go to Everton and Sunderland to Watford, so under different circumstances, those two teams, fielding players already off on their holidays, could have had a big impact in the relegation battle. Benteke scores late against Chelsea 1-1
I was in both Sunderland and Newcastle the past few days and saw the passion of the locals for their teams. Both of them are big clubs. The difference between all the teams down the bottom was the quality of the Manager's. Big Sam is not everybody's cup of tea but his record speaks for itself. I have said all year that I expect Sunderland to survive not because they had the best players but because they had the best Manager of all the teams in the mire. Well done Sunderland. Hard luck Newcastle and Norwich.
Great game at Hillsborough! Wednesday just scored, but the lino and ref made the correct decision to disallow the goal for offside - handbags at 5 paces!!!!!
Just home - glad the usual weekend chore of cutting the grass for the first time was accomplished yesterday evening ahead of rain, so just relaxing watching this match (missed the disallowed goal though). Match not on TV here but this stream seems quite good if overseas folks are interested. http://www.stream2watch.co/live-now...wednesday-vs-brighton-hove-live-stream-may-13
The match commentators indicate, "Bobby Zamora not available with a hip injury that he's been struggling with for some time" - I would say so!
Did I see right? A Wednesday player tapped Wallace on the shoulder and indicated that the linesman has his flag up. If he did it's the funniest joke I have ever seen.
