Really thought we had blown it today but the guys staged a magnificent fightback and not for the first time.
    Terrific result

I would love to say I fully expected that, but I didn't think we stood a chance of 3 points when I typed it! As we've seen on more than one occasion this season, this team don't know when they're beaten, and it would be a brave person to back against them getting that 3rd spot in the table now, and to be fair, it's nothing less than they deserve.

Paul Coutts season is over after his red card as it carries a 3 match ban

What's done is done - plenty of other options to cover. As we will be finishing in 3rd place, it will only be one game this season, and the first couple next season! As I read it, assuming we beat Scunthorpe next Sat, (that's fair enough isn't it?), we will have 80 points. Only 3 teams can better us, Northampton (away to Barrow), Port Vale (home to Newport, away to Exeter), and Mansfield (away to Salford, home to FGR). Port Vale + Mansfield need to win both their games, a draw for either is no good for them. This will be a tall order for both, which only leaves Northampton at Barrow, and Barrow are proving to be quite hard to beat at their place at present, so we have a definite chance of pinching 3rd spot, in my opinion.

2-2 - good result for us. Stags can’t catch us if we beat Scunny and Salford can’t now reach the playoffs.

    Over to you Newport.

Can our Severnside neighbours do us a favour and take points off Vale?

So far so good. 1-0 to Newport, who have had 4 shots on target to none from Vale after 28 mins.

A win for Rovers and a win or draw for Barrow and I and many others will have a large drink in celebration on Saturday night

    Northampton F57 A37 GD20

    Rovers F64 A49 GD15

If Northampton win 1 - 0 on Saturday and we win 6 - 0 do we get third place on goals scored as the GD would be exactly the same

When I think back to the beginning of the season I could not imagine putting this post on the forum unless it was did we have a better GD than the team above us to keep us in the league

Tom Lockyer had a bad day at the office as Fulham sealed the championship title against Luton with a 7 - 0 victory, Luton also picked up 6 yellow cards including 1 for lockyer

Port Vale and Mansfield are facing FGR and Exeter who both are fighting for the title. Say Vale and Mansfield draw or lose, and Barrow beat Northampton, a draw will be enough for us.

I was thinking similar today. If we actually won just 1 of our games at the start of the season, just 1, we would be 3 points clear of 4th and certainties of getting 3rd.

If we had won 2 of those early games, we would be in a shoot out for the title.

That away defeat at Oldham and home defeat vs Stevenage in particular is 6 points lost.

There’s only one way to do it - absolutely hammer Scunny, score as many goals as possible and then pray for Barrow to take points from the Cobblers.

Yeah why not? We’ve started slowly a few times recently and have had to come back into games.

We should attack from the off in front of a vociferous and partisan Mem and see how many we can score!

We have 77 points Sutton who have 73 points are 8th, by going all out to win we cannot drop out of the playoff places if we lose but if we win by a 5 plus the number that Northampton score in their victory we will get promoted anyway and if we fail at least we would have tried. One goal against Tranmere and FGR would have seen us in league 1 next season, the margins are fine but it would be great to see us promoted along with the Gas Girls who are promoted as Champions

The appeal against Paul Coutts Red card has been dismissed, if we have to play i the playoffs he will unavailable for the semi's and the final as well as the Scunthorpe game, because it's his 2nd red he has a four match ban

Sam Frost reckons if Rovers had converted their chances they would 4 or 5 up

Lobley replaced by O'Malley 27th minute

    30th minute Matheson yellow carded

    Port Vale 1 - 0 Exeter

Looks like its the playoffs then as we are creating chances but not taking them

    2 minutes extra time

    Barrow 1 - 3 Northampton

Delaney yellow carded for tripping Collins

    HT 2 - 0
