They are musts if England are to do anything. Only a 23 man squad this time. Those who Cant get a game for their clubs should not be included. Phillips, a prime example. Maguire will obviously go and start even if he's playing ****e and this is my main gripe with Southgate. Players are not being picked on form. If kane is injured then the likes of Wilson and Watkins are a million miles away from being good enough at this level.

Who is the best Kane replacement in your view then? Can’t say I’ve given it much thought. Toney when allowed to play again? Or play without a traditional number 9 (if Kane can be called that)? Kane is an exceptional player, very few of his kind worldwide let alone in one country. Bit unfair to criticise Southgate because we only have one Kane.

There’s plenty of other stuff to criticise Southgate for though, the last couple of performances amongst them.

I would take Phillips, purely because he's the only one who can stand in for Rice imo.
I hope Southgate leaves Maguire out once Stones is back, but I fear he won't.
