Just had a look at the tables. Depending on Wales' result tonight, could well end up with Wales and Scotland in an A league, and England in a B league. Considering this puts us out of the top 16 teams in Europe. Really not good enough. Ironic talking about Euro 96, which was a great tournament for England, but there were only 16 teams in that tournament, we might not have even qualified!*

*aside from being the host nation.

Except of course we won't actually be worse than 16 other teams in Europe (in spite of Southgate's efforts).
I support the Nation's league because it has done away with all those meaningless friendlies, which everyone complained about.
Being in slightly more difficult qualifying groups won't necessarily be a bad thing imo.

I'd love Southgate to play whoever he picks in their natural positions and do a Beale and tell them to go out there and play with the handbrake off. Unshackle them Gareth and players like Foden and Grealish might flourish !

Could you imagine an England side managed by Pep? There are many average managers who would do better than Southgate...

Agree with your support of Nations league. I understand what you mean by more difficult qualifying groups not being a bad thing. No disrespect meant, but I've wondered in the past if qualifiers against the likes of Andorra, Leichenstein, Luxembourg, and San Marino, are really the best way to prepare for a big tournament.

We've breezed through qualifying, easily winning by 4/5/6/8 or even 9 (vs Luxembourg in 1960), then been a bit like rabbits caught in the headlights when the main tournament arrives and we face the better European countries.

World Cup Warning Update -

The football world has been put on notice with Australia beating New Zealand 2-0 in Auckland this afternoon.
This follows their massive 1-0 win in Sydney earlier this week.
The fans were in hysterics but an abundance of popcorn for those soccer type-thingy crowd soon settled them down.
All in all, the Aussies must be a shoe-in to upset some of the favourites in the cup.
Stay tuned.
This is Didley from SQUATNews.com signing out.

Not seen much PL football this season but I wonder why the fantastic technical abilty, floating runs and great passing Ebere Eze has isn't getting him into the England squads. I heard he was called up by Southgate the same day he suffered his torn Achilles. Is he still not back to the level he was at before that injury?

Bloody crims stole the game

Too soon for this tournament I guess as he's only just getting back to full match fitness etc and starting regularly.
I'd love to see him called up next year.

Dykes got a virus, now there's a shock. Does this bloke ever come back from Scotland games without having some sort of problem ? We need to start sueing these Sweaty ****ers

Southgate has left Arnold, Tomori, Ward Prowse and Bowen out of the squad for the Germany game ! Clueless

Being kind (very kind) he’s got a squad he relies on and will trust in the team spirit of including out of form players like Henderson and Maguire over inexperience now we’re so close to the WC. The Tomori decision is baffling though.

Watford sacked their new ‘up & coming’ manager and replaced him with Slaven Bilic. I’d say that was a bit of a handbrake turn!
I wonder how long he’ll last? :emoticon-0136-giggl

**** Watford, run by a bunch of complete muppets. Whether they go up, down or stay on this division, they'll never progress under them.

Can't understand why he's playing Trippier over Alexander-Arnold.
Tomori has no experience, one for the future maybe?
Southgate's biggest problem now is that he's committed to 3-4-3, which will never win us anything.
We'll always be outnumbered in central midfield and not be able to play enough flair players in that system.
If he played 4-3-3, he could play two eights ahead of Rice, Bellingham and Ward-Prowse for example.
Maddison being left out completely is another baffling decision.
I have come round to the thinking that Southgate doesn't trust flair players.

Dykes ill on Scotland trip
Will come back to us in a worse state than when we sent him

Oh my what a shock

NOT

Big let off right on the stroke of Half Time, R's fail to deal with a corner and striker somehow missed from a couple of yards....... Other than that we've looked comfortable and dangerous on the break..... 1-0 R's at HT
