Unfortunately, England just don't look as good as they did.
I now believe Southgate has taken us as far as he can.
Sterling, who has always been excellent for England, looks past his best now, but without him we'd be seriously lacking pace in the side.
Poor game in the San Siro, with two average looking teams.
Both have players missing, but it's a poor game.
Maguire has done ok, as have Dier and Walker.
We're just not the threat going forward that we were.
Grealish and Mount may make a difference.
Must move the ball quicker.
Should have passed it. He's usually very good with that kind of pass.
This England team look a pale shadow compared to recent times.
Not very hopeful for the WC.
Still think we weren't that great before, we just had the 2 best draws ever at major tournaments ! Still can't recall us beating 1 top team at either of those, probably Sweden and Denmark being the best of the teams we beat. Southgate did well for morale but isn't tactically astute and left changing things too long in both those tournaments when we were winning. Why is he playing Foden and Saka out of their best positions and why call up Toney only to leave him out of squad ? Crazy. Where are players who have been performing lately for their clubs when others who can't get in their club sides are playing here ?
