Don’t get me wrong, he’s very good but l tend to think the PL is the highest level to play at, hence my reasoning on Messi playing against a lessor standard of players, which makes look probably better than he is. Truth is, we will never know.

Maybe l’m just bias towards the PL.

No worries mate.
We'll agree to differ.

They were, but Pickford seems well out of form and some Everton players seem keen to get Benitez sacked. Their team was clearly built around Sigurdsson, and we won’t be seeing him again by the look of it.

Just watched the highlights.
Pickford made many good saves and one fantastic one from Salah at 0-0.
Possibly could have done better for the last goal, but it was absolutely smashed from a few yards out.
He was criminally exposed by a hopeless looking Everton imo.

I’m no keeping expert, but he seemed out of position/slow to move for a couple of the others as well, though the quality of Salah’s finishing may have deceived him and me. Thing is he just doesn’t inspire confidence for Everton, whereas he seems pumped up and strong for England.

Ramsdale next in line? Gone are the days when goalie was never a problem for the England manager. Bet Phil Parkes is pissed off he’s not playing now, he’d have 150 caps.

Think Ramsdale will go on to be #1 but Everton’s defence is ****. Pickford gets plenty of practice.

Ramsdale is looking very good.
I don't know what he's like with his feet, which, these days, is an important attribute (unless you're playing for ****ing Burnley).

Apparently Ramsdale’s distribution is up there with Ederson, based on a rapid Google of the subject. I remember it being highlighted on MOTD, he really pings it fast and accurate. Of course he will make the odd mistake too, which will be meat and drink for the Neanderthals.

Likes to go long by the look of this, but passes rather than punts.

He looks a tremendous keeper, so if his distribution is good too I can see Pickford losing his place.
However, as we've both pointed out, Pickford hasn't let England down.

Agree Jeff, Brentford have very little ambition going forward, now a small fish in a big bowl.......... look a poor side and you can see them slipping towards the bottom 3.........

Interesting De Gea injures himself at a corner, Arsenal whack ball into back of the net before ref blows whistle to stop game......... Whats the decision?

Two contrasting views from experts, well I say experts but one is Rob Green.........

Rob Green

Former England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

It is an incredible decision. Yes, you have head injuries that are allowed to stop the game. But this is a genuine injury. It is impossible for Manchester United to do anything to stop the goal. De Gea would have saved it. An unbelievable decision. Amazing.

Glenn Murray

Former Brighton striker on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

I'm not surprised at all that the goal was given. It was only his own players near him.

I don't see how it couldn't be given a goal! I don't know what all the kerfuffle was about.

I haven't seen the incident, but out of those two 'experts', I'd certainly plump for Green. He won't necessarily be right in this instance, but I find him to be a very knowledgeable and sensible pundit.

Wait until you see it........ I think Green was on the side of the goalkeeping union.........

Ian Dennis

BBC Radio 5 Live senior football reporter on BBC Radio 5 Live

We have a Premier League ruling on the goal. So, the referee blew the whistle after the ball had crossed the line. VAR was able to decide whether there was a foul on De Gea. The contact was clearly by his own player so it was able to rule that it was a goal.

Wellington phoenix play western Sydney tonight
I have made the mistake of watching the same two ladies teams play
It's not very good
