He's seen as some sort of talisman for the team, although I don't think they'll need him tonight. Scotland are doing really well at the moment, have won 10 qualifiers on the bounce I think and are full of confidence. Cyprus are what they are, and although no games are easy at international level, Scotland should win this which will put them on the verge of qualification.

Up front they've got Che Adams and Ryan Christie along with Dykes and Shankland, plus plenty goals come from midfield with John McGinn, Scott McTominay and Callum McGregor, as well as their CBs being pretty handy with their heads at set pieces.

A whole different game on Tuesday night though, where I'd expect a full Hampden to make lots of noise but hard to see anything but an England win, although they have seen off both Spain and Norway recently so it certainly won't be easy.

Definitely won't be easy, especially when you factor in that Scotland will raise everything by 10% against the hated English.
Plus, I wouldn't have thought we'll see anything like England's full strength side following their Euro qualifier and their injuries.
Do you think the Scots will go full strength?

Clarke would be daft to not go full strength....a full baying crowd will be demanding it at Hampden, especially against the English. A non-full strength England side will find it hard to break them down, so maybe Southgate will need some regular starters in the line up to get past their defence. Just hope it's a good game, and not a repeat of that game at the Euros a couple of years back.

You’re the local expert how desperate are they up front? Dykes, even if over the injury, is way off match fit I’d think.
No other club would keep releasing him to play when going there with an injury, its an utter joke. If he gets ****ed again in these 2 games, then someone at the club should be sacked !

I'm not sure what the rules are, but think clubs can get fined if they don't release players for international duty, and if they are injured they need to be assessed by medical teams before being released back to their clubs

Think they changed the rules to stop Clubs refusing to release players who they claimed were injured but weren't. The decision is now with the International medical teams. Haaland has missed a number of qualifiers for Norway which I thought was ManC just trying to wrap him up, but in fact on the last occasion against Spain and Georgia I think it was Norways' medics stated he wasn't fit.

Norway won 6-0 last night and Haaland stayed on the bench for 90 minutes. Dykes has been injured so many times before Scotland games, yet always goes away with their squad and plays, and then cones back mire ****ed than before ! If we are forced to let him go in these situations, then there should be something in place, where we can sue them if this occurs again. It's beyond ****ing ridiculous

McTominay, who's played 7 mins.of football for Man Utd this season, nods in from close range after a peach of a cross from Andy Robertson...1-0 Scotland

Dykes on in 69th minute ! Great

Makes it to the end without getting injured - phew! Did a bit of running about, doesn't look fully up to match speed so a run out tonight will help us.

FT 3-0....a full strength England should beat them comfortably, but only if they don't take them for granted

Yeah, meaning he'll probably start v England and Maguire will end him with a tackle that's later than the 6.22 from Euston !
