I've got it now Robbie. Apparently a technical issue with the stream. Someone didn't press 'play' !!!
In terms of mismatch, this is like last Saturday's game in reverse. But credit to the lads on the field, they are beginning to come more into it. Sara is clearly battling with the unevenness of the pitch, leading to an unusual number of errant passes.
Pretty annoying watching Tzolis ripping us apart after the shambolic transfer saga where the club we loaned him too bought him for peanuts & immediately made a profit weeks later triggering a pittance sell on fee . Up there with Naismith for bad business decisions. The German club will no doubt make a big chunk of cash when Brugge sell him on too
Oh, oh! The Green Screen of Streamlessness just kicked in. Prior to that I was enjoying the view of the Liege stadium and looking forward to actually seeing the game .....
http://www.fawanews.com/Standard Liege vs Norwich City.html I though it was a 1500 kick off who scored ?
That said, it all stemmed from a fortuitous turnover which left Standard wide open to the counter. But, as you say, well executed advantage taken from it.
True, but surely takeaways and interceptions are being stressed by Thorup as a means of creating scoring chances and this was a good example of that. I was also impressed by some of our young players on show, particularly Montóia, Djedje, Kamara, Aboh, Hills and Warner. Interestingly, Thorup's tactics were altered to allow Adegboyega at RB to drop into a back 3 when the ball was being moved forward out of defence. That allowed Montóia to show his abilities as an attacking FB down the left. Kamara also looked more threatening in this game with his ability to dribble past defenders and create scoring chances. Though he made a few mistakes, Djedje again looked good in the DM role.
Yes indeed; I thought about adding exactly that to my post. Both Smith and Wagner also aspired to dominate games by compressing play into the opposition half, but this time it looks as if Thorup really intends to deliver it!
I hope he can, but then his predecessors all managed to make their tactics work in the pre-season. The key is to make it work in the 46 games after that!
