They are the better team by a distance, but most of the advantage is physical and professionalism. Since when has time wasting been called ‘game management’ and praised?
Well that was a bit disappointing, not just the result which was fair. I haven’t seen much of this tournament but have read a lot about the spirit in which has been played (Cameroon aside) - the absence of gamesmanship, diving, time wasting. I saw a lot of that tonight, from the most professional women’s team in the world. If that’s the price of raising standards, I’m not sure it’s worth it.
Best team won, we are nowhere near their standard of professionalism yet. At least we are now closing the gap, maybe in four years time we will learn to actually score a penalty...
Better team just deserved it. Shocking penalty- don’t know why White or Bronze weren’t up for taking the pen. Well done to the lionesses, they did well to get to the semi’s and came close. A bright future ahead for our women’s team - they know what needs to be done to make a final now.
