Well that was interesting. losing 0-2 HT, Burnley miss a penalty to make it 3-0...and we then start a great comeback to win 3-2 (goals by substitute Dalling (on for Goss I think), Oteh and McNulty. Chair was running the show, twice pulled back by Burnley CB, when through. Dalling and McNultys goals were excellent, whilst Otehs was a typical CF poachers goal. All good in the hood today then. Future's so bright I gotta wear shades
I watched The Damned United a number of weeks ago for the first time and reflected on how much managers like Clough, Shankly, Docherty etc. are missed. Real characters. I like Klopp best out of the current crop of PL managers because at least he comes across as a fruitbat. Too many of the others are so dry, moody or earnest. Colin gives good value, if I’m honest.
Watching Germany v France on French telly. Pretty sure I just saw a German stamp on a Frenchman’s throat but no one seems too bothered about it. Old habits die hard I suppose.
Will probably have a couple of quid on the bloke Khan is fighting tonight. Was about 17/1 last time I checked on Betfair. Is the England game worth watching? Odd time for a game on a Saturday.
It's a competitive competition. Look at the sides Countries are putting out. I believe Wembley is a sell out to watch 6 in the world v 9th and to give the England players a deserved welcome back following the World Cup.
That’s a good argument in favour. Will probably watch at least some of it. Still don’t really get the point of it though.
The matches (in theory) should be evenly contested rather than 'testimonial' type bores. We're in the top 'division' so we'll be getting top quality opposition which for our younger squad will be a valuable learning curve. It has to be better than some of the crap friendles we've seen in recent years...
I think it's to make these games mean something as opposed to all those meaningless, crappy friendlies we've seen over the years. We will play Spain and Croatia home and away and there's promotion and relegation within the groups. I also believe that some of the groups will have a bearing on qualification for the Euros. Having said that, I still find the format a little confusing.
So I'm not the only one It'll be something to watch whilst the missus is glued to Strictly in the other room.....
In other news there’s some bizarre cross-border tournament going on involving my old local side, Borehamwood, at home to Dunfermline. Sutton are away somewhere in Scotland.
