Not sure the BBC text writer can do anything more to hide his bias......presumably he's wearing a Barcelona shirt. HALF-TIME Barcelona 2-0 PSG (agg: 2-4) Posted at20:37 Ohh yes, beautiful. Barcelona get two goals back and are half way towards a Champions League miracle. Can they keep it going in the second half? Bit OTT the miracle comment, besides we have experience of throwing a way a 4 goal lead in Europe, but that was before football was invented in 1992 so probably doesn't count.....
It has never happened in the Champions League before that a team has turned around a four goal deficit. So if something happens for a first time isn't it a sort of a miracle I wouldn't call it a divine miracle though.
As much as I like Barca, have to say Suarez is still a diver. That 5th goal was no penalty. He has been booked already for diving. Exciting finish.
I have never seen a match like that. Truly amazing finish. They will be showing it for years to come.
That result gets a monkey off our back, until now we held the record for losing the biggest first leg lead in European competition, having beaten Partizan Belgrade 6-2 at Highbury in the first leg we went and lost 0-4 in the return, happy days when we were good enough but had Alan Mullery as manager. Same season as the 5-5 against Toon. Anyway here's the goals from both matches, some crackers in the first match but it was weird being at Highbury, just wasn't home...
I went to bed just before Barca's fourth goal. I feel like a Man City fan who went home when Mackie scored!
We'd also managed to lose a 4 goal lead in our previous European campaign in 76/77 when we beat FC Koln 3-0 in the first leg at HQ then scored in the first couple of minutes of the away leg to lead 4-0 on aggregate, then contrived to lose the game 4-1 sneaking through on away goals. Truth be known they could have scored 8 in the return leg but Phil was immense that night and kept the score respectable, if 4-1 can ever be called respectable!!!!!!
I remember listening to that one on the radio, we were 4-1 down at halftime, God only knows how we survived the second half. We then blew a three goal lead against the Greeks, we just didn't travel well...
