Dundalk drew 1-1 away to AZ Alkmaar in their Europa League debut after they had a man sent off. The draw is worth 120,000 euros to them in prize money on top of the 2.4m euros they get for being in the group stages. Good prize money for a semi-pro club.

The lad who scored for AZ took a fearful smack from the keeper as he scored and was knocked clean out. From the highlights it looked like he swallowed his tongue, fortunately the paramedics were on immediately and did the necessary to save him. He was kept in hospital overnight with concussion.
