IRELAND midfielder Darron Gibson would relish a move to Sunderland.
The 23-year-old is one of three Manchester United players targeted by Black Cats boss Steve Bruce following the sale of Jordan Henderson to Liverpool.
A fee of around £12million is understood to have been accepted, and Gibson is up for the move â and he hopes United team-mates John OâShea and Wes Brown will also be interested in a move north.
With Bruce and the players on holiday, any deals are likely to be at least a fortnight away, but Gibson (pictured) is keen on the chance to kick-start his career with Sunderland.
He said: âIt wouldnât faze me one bit to leave Manchester United. All I want is whatâs best for me.
âSo, if the best thing for me is to leave and go somewhere that Iâll play every week, then so be it.
âSteve Bruce has played under Sir Alex Ferguson as well and I think he bases his managerial style on Sir Alex. If it came to it, I would love to play for Steve Bruce, but, at the minute, Iâm not sure whatâs going on.
âIt would not only be a massive help for us (including OâShea and Brown) going together, but it would be a massive boost for Sunderland as well. Weâve played together for four or five years, we know each other and that experience would be brilliant for any team.
âEven if we went individually, it would be brilliant for the club.â
Gibson added: âIt has come to the stage where Iâm nearly 24 and Iâm going to have to go somewhere else if I donât start playing regularly.
âIf it comes down to it, I just want to go somewhere where itâs right for me.
âI havenât sat down with Sir Alex to talk about it, but, obviously, if it comes to me not playing as much as I would like next season then Iâll have to move on.â
