There could be millions of players available - but if you have identified players like Whittingham and he moves to another club - then you've missed out because we as a club have ****ed about. I find it incredible that Bruce doesn't know what his budget is yet. Piss poor planning and preparation leads to piss poor performance. He's not insinuating there's not going to be players left, he's suggesting we'll be rummaging through the dregs. We're a Championship team with Championship aspirations. I'd personally rather not bother with the foreign market as frankly our signings from abroad have generally been atrocious. Sorry, but your analogy was ****. Just let it go, it will still be **** when you bring it up again in three weeks time.
I know mine was bad, I realised it after I'd re-read it. I don't care. I make mistakes, I'm not a bloody savant. The dregs of what though? The player pool is enormous; the quality of player available isn't necessarily proportional to when you buy them in the transfer window. I agree with you about the mucking about and the timing of this meeting, it's **** and should have been sorted weeks ago. I personally think we'll need at least a season of rebuilding before we think about promotion again.
The problem is I can see most of the players we expect to see start the season snapped up by other clubs. We're already down to the bare bones. The budget discussions post relegation should have taken place within a week of being relegated. Regardless of whether they are here for the long haul or not, all they are doing is further harming the potential for success by being lapse.
We all laughed (well sort of) at Blackpool last season when they had just 8 senior players on their books. Can't see us getting down to that level, but it'd be nice to have a couple in before we jet off to Austria.
as far as I am aware, AA and EA are holding talks with SB, but I might be wrong. but then again, you would rather have a go at me.
I hope we won't be hearing a modern day version of that famous telephone conversation: AA: Hello Phil. It's Assem. Steve's gone
I think we'll all be disappointed by close of play today. Unless SB gets fired I don't think they'll want to reveal what was discussed in too much detail. They are under no obligation to do that and it could be commercially compromising. I expect we might just get the usual 'owners are fully behind SB, funds may be available subject to xyz being sold', etc.
