Today, v the old t´rrific one
Considering we were away,
At times we had them on the run
Even before one was thrown from the fray,
We started well, taking the game
To them, where they looked ill at ease,
And should have had one in the frame
But that chance Wes just failed to seize,
Our passing seemed fluent and crisp
And we seemed a yard quicker too,
While they seemed intent on ´no risk´
Being their general pervading view,
As home team they were strangely tame
With barely an attacking threat,
It was odd to think this was the same
Lambert P. who made opponents sweat,
Last year and the year before that
And it seemed, if a goal was to come,
Then it would end up in our hat
But as so often, against the run,
Of play, we gifted them a chance
Which they took with unbridled glee,
But even that didn´t enhance
Their game with much more fluency,
And although we looked anytime
As if we might score, those last balls,
Into the box were less than fine
And Guzan proved quite a brick wall,
Second half Guzan again
Was there to foil Holt when clean through,
But a goal when they went down to ten
Was not to be denied our crew,
The very least that we deserved
And with luck we might have had more,
But Villa defended with verve
And should be delighted with a draw,
And that´s my unbiased viewpoint
We looked miles above them today, :)
And to play like that there at their joint
Is a sign that we´re well on the way. OTBC

Have a good week all,

Yours

Pretty much how I saw it too RBF. Would have LOVED the 3 points, but I feel that to avoid defeat was important, as at least that keeps them below us in the table.

Unfortunately, that's the 4th game that we've drawn and could have won - the others being QPR, Wet Sham and Spurs.

Can´t always win those you sometimes deserve to JR, Guzan played out of his skin, as did Friedel that day at Spurs, but either Lambert has completely changed philosophy, or his players are just not up to his way of thinking. I´d certainly expected them to be much better I must admit. Good point all round.

Another 3 points next Saturday will push us a bit further up the table.

Nice one RBF, I'm sure most of us would have accepted a point before the off, we kept pace with Reading and increased the gap to QPR, so even though it feels like two dropped points, no real harm has been done!

Nice one rbf
A good point today, especially as we went behind
Move onto next week which will be a battle with stoke for sure

On a side note, I was at reading vs fulham today, when fulham were 2-1 up the away
Fans were singing "you're going down with the rangers". Enjoyed that

Long way to go yet max, but they might very well be on to something ;). Certainly the next couple of games wil give us a chance to put some distance between ourselves and those at the very bottom.
