no, it's a known fact that the slash and burn style of farming in the region is the cause of the deforestation, they burn the field, completely drain it of any nutrients to grow the soya with absolutely no thought to sustainability because setting a fire is far cheaper, therefore far more profitable, than sustaining land you've already cleared. If they stop growing cows for beef, can you guess what will happen? If not, I'll tell you, they'll burn down part of the forest to clear it, grow soya until it's drained the land of all it's nutrients, and then burn down some more forest to clear it for more soya, which will then proceed to drain that bit of land of all it's nutrients. When that's done, they will burn down some more forest, grow more soya until it's drained the cleared land of it's nutrients etc etc.
Going vegan will have changed absolutley nothing.

You realise that most of that soya is grown for cattle feed?

Also the slash and burn stuff is maybe what farmers did years ago, the current deforestation is much more industrial.

It's quite simple. It costs a lot more in CO2 emissions to feed a human a meat diet compared to a veggie diet. There's ****all to debate on that front. Your made-up scenarios to try and justify your position are just fluff.

I've bolded the bit that shows you don't know what the **** you are talking about, as it's the most common form of farming in the Brazilian amazon basin right now, and also the most destructive, and they're doing it to grow the crop you think will save the planet.
Go read actual science, rather than your vegan approved wishful thinking, and we might be able to have a discussion where Í don't think you're a brainwashed ****** regurgitating other people's holier-than-thou bullshit.

Couldn't that have been put in a nicer way?

The main use of the soy they’re growing there is for animal feed, primarily beef cattle feed. So I’ve no idea what point you think you’ve made there tbh.

So we eat nothing instead then?
Couldn't that have been put in a nicer way?
I didn't feel like expressing my feelings in a more empathic way, so yes, but also no.
