Toby signs for Spurs - official.

My Dad works in this area of law. Says that it would in the interests of Atletico to sell Toby to us. Saves a lot of time and money. A lot of money.

 

So has anything happened today regarding Toby ?

 

I think if the Club has got wind of the furore it would be wise of them to put the record straight a.s.a.p.

 

Not at this stage of the contractual agreement - it would be at best a written intent as personal terms would need to be agreed, medicals undertaken and, with lawyers involved, it would contain other conditions such as the situation we now seem to have to protect the buyer mostly.

I agree, but if Ronald is to be believed he actually does want to come back. I think at the end of the day it's what Toby wants which will be the deciding factor, and we'll just have to wait and see what that is.

 

Please make this true! Just buying Toby would have been boring, wouldn't it?

I note a few posters on Saintsweb are questioning the morality of what we are doing......obviously everyone on here lacks moral fibre.

The way I see it is that Toby is done at Atletico as he isn't needed/wanted and AM are happy to sell. He would be happy enough to come back here as it seemed he had a good time last year, knows he would be a first team regular and seemingly gets on well with the coaching staff. However he would prefer to go to Spurs as they are a bigger club and will pay him more. Even with this development if he prefers Spurs over a move here then it will be almost irrelevant as we can't force him to sign.

 

I think it would be insulting to the player if we didn't do everything we could to sign him.

 

If our claim is valid, and AM still choose try and sell to Spuds, could Toby's registration with Spuds be blocked, until it has been sorted through legal channels?

Has to be a consideration, no?

 

Seems some of the Spuds fans don't see him as an improvement on Dier.

Morals, what are they?

 

If we have a legal leg to stand on, there are 2 possibilities 1) we get Toby (if he wants to come) or 2) we get compo (if Toby wants to go to Spurs). In either case, we have put a spanner in the works of the North London Yobbos (Copyright: Rupert Lowe).

 

Aren't they a kind of mushroom?

 

A further (albeit very unlikely) outcome would be us buying him for £6m or whatever, then instantly selling him to Spurs for whatever the fee they have agreed with Atletico is, means we make a chunk of cash very quickly, no courts needed and nobody is breaking any rules.

Or we could just tell Spurs that we are doing that so they don't bid and then get Toby for £6m, yeah that sounds better actually.

Conditions precedent, yes. But a contract can be binding subject to x, y and z which is the way Medicaid etc are dealt with in football contracts
