It was nothing to do with the defence, it was down to poor management. It's not even like we were coming second, we were miles off most years and with the squad we had we should have done better.

Our full back's were also perfectly ok in Duxbury and Albiston with the likes if Gidman, Gibson and Sivebaek all well capable. It's not like it is the most crucial compartment of the team.

 

I loved that team... though when did remi stop playing for us??

as i went up a few times a season between 83-88 and cant remember ever seeing Remi playing for us.. Dont think i saw wilkins either... though i was only interested in Robbo, hughes and whiteside really..

 

He was injured half the time mate. He was also absolute quality when he did play, ankle injury did for him. The type that would be cured these days no problem.

 

He must have been as i have no recollection of seeing an afro on the pitch.

I saw clips of Steve Coppell last week before our game against fulham, he was very good. i've seen Jimmy Greenhoff's goal against Liverpool in the fa cup final i can't remember the year and i've seen clips of Sammy Mcilroy as well.
