Is this supposed to be a joke? sure the front 3 are decent, rhodes in particular but most of them are past it. Pedersen, nuno gomes, williamson, goodwillie, lowe, givet, orr are not what i would call formidable. Orr played for ipswich in thje 6-0 and dyer tore him new one, i hope he plays next week. There no [point getting jealous of other teams we are above them and have been all season, so we cant have bad players just cos we lost 2 games.
Yes - and one of my better ones - the punchline was delivered at Arsenal on Saturday. In addition, they added David Bentley and Karim Rekik from Man City (on loan)to their squad last week . ... and Nuno Gomez is as past it as Kevin Phillips ... oh but wait ... ... flippancy aside for a moment it is about depth and whilst some of the players on their bench may be 'past it' at the top level they are capable of contributing from the bench ... ... and it's not a question of 'jealousy' - rather reality - we have a first XI capable of beating anyone in this league on our day .... but our options from the bench and in the deeper squad are pretty limited - we need to get at leat a couple in on loan IMHO - one of them hopefully a goalscorer .. Again IMHO I can see Blackburn going on a run that will at least trouble the play-off scene if not the automatics ...
Blackburn IMO have the best squad in the league on paper Rhodes, Dann, Robinson, Olsson, Pedersen, Bentley, Campbell, Murphy, Kazim-Richards, Lowe, Hanley Its just a case of whether the off the field problems will cost them and if they can achieve their potential. Other then how Charlie Austin started the season, Rhodes has been the best striker in the divison all season (After Wood and Nugent of course). I just hope their cup run does them no favours
.. and again to clarify - I'm not 'jealous' but I am worried - as Proud says I hope the Cup proves a distraction but it doesn't always work that way - DJ can't play in the cup so they will always have a fresh (and let's face it - at this level effective (Blackpool)) striker, for the league games - I'm therefore hoping that they suffer a couple of losses soon- particularly against us!! - I want a points cushion against them that they can't hope to close ...
.. didn't Hull recently have a seven point cushion on us that we bridged - only to now be six behind - 3 points for a win can soon bridge gaps ... ask Man United ...
The difference with Hull lead now is we will go level if we win our games in hand. Easier said then done though But by tommorow if they lose and we win we will be in a very nice position
.. they play Blackburn so I'm hoping for draw! - the logic is simple, there is a maximum of 3 points available in each game so every game that only generates 2 points (i.e a draw) means that one point is lost in the 'ether' ... we win and they draw against each other it cost them both 2 points - therefore effectively four points lost! (I know this doesn't really work but you get the drift) - anyway the clue to success is therefore, take more 3s ... simples
No we win and a Blackburn win will do nicely Hull are a bigger threat to us at the minute. As long as we win then Blackburn wont get close to us At this minute Blackburn arent a threat in the slightest, we are all being cautious of them because of how good their team is on paper
..... you have to look further than 'at this minute' ... if Blackburn win tomorrow and end up one point in front of us by the end of the season then we look back at this game as an 'if only' ... ideally, and for the reasons above, I want all of our rivals to keep drawing against each other for the rest of the season ... of course that only works if we are winning ... but we have to win anyway ... and there is the bigeest 'if' ...
I think Blackburn will be a threat to the play-offs but can't see them making automatic. Too many good sides at the top and if one slips up, another will win. It will be like a treadmill for Blackburn. I also don't see anything in their form that worries me, so people's concern seems to stem from potential and we all know where potential got us last year. Hull I keep expecting to drop off but they keep sneaking 1-0 scorelines. As long as they do this, they're a danger to all. Watford I think are a real threat - only two losing in nearly four months. But Blackburn - if I was a Boro or maybe even a Palace fan, I'd be worried about them. I think only Hull and Watford are clear and present dangers.
.. whilst I suspect Gangsta was merely winding (and caught one) ... the answer would be - on the same basis that you continually predict that we will lose, irrespective of who we are playing .. i.e 'wishful thinking' ...
Completely off topic but I'm new here as you can see but it seems the most active forums are not the usual suspects. Been on a few forums and the 'big' clubs are all anybody talks about. Lots of lower league English teams being spoken about, is this the norm?
You're partially right but as you've said yourself Blackburn are a real threat to us all, if not in league places, certainly in one-off matches. I would say they're slight favourites to beat Hull.
You have to remember the Blackburn fans are probably saying the same about us If we keep winning then Blackburn will be nothing to worry about. I dont think their setup is good enough off the pitch. The club is ran by idiots, the fans arent happy and Michael Appleton has a pretty poor record as a manager. I dont understand why they wanted him so soon after going Blackpool
