Football is the Bastion of bias and tribalism. Anyone who thinks otherwise, in the words of Gregory House, "is a moron"!
I think that if you're using the players coming through as the future of the club, I would rather they came into the first team when they are completely ready. This is where decent reserve football would be a massive help - the benefits of it are best shown by what happened on that night at home to Kaiserslautern - how many of that team had hardly played for the first team? If the players like Hoban, Bond, Smith, Murray, Mensah and even the next crop of youngsters can learn from the newcomers to WFC, then doesn't that put the future of the club in a good position? They also have Doyley as an example, he came through the ranks and look how many games he's played for us, and that is under a number of managers, which is all credit to him and his work ethic making up for where his ability may be lacking. I would rather be in our position than that of Hearts.
Next one in - more strength to the defence... http://www.watfordfc.com/news/article/130812-belkalem-signs-986921.aspx
The photo of Essaid Belkalem in WOb makes me think of his friend Dark Ali. I would not like to meet Essaid there.
Yes - as far as anyone knows. He did officially go back to Spain when his loan period expired, but has trained and played with us since then...
Couldn't see Giejo getting much of an opportunity in the current squad, would be a waste of a position and also increase the wages so not good for FFP.
Watford Observer ‏@Observer_Owl 6m Based on Cassetti's tweet, it seems @GeijoAlex is no longer training at #WatfordFC. We also wish him the best. A lovely bloke + good player
Seems to be more stories/interest in Troy (W. Ham, Fulham, Spurs(!)) will he still be with us on 1st September? Thoughts anyone?
Does Troy fit the Pozzo model of buying cheap, developing, and selling on? (know he was bought before their arrival, but he could still fit their model).
"Not looking to go, don't want to go" was his comment on the radio v Bristol Rovers so it has been reported on these boards. We need the home talent and the Pozzo's will realise this. He has a contract to 2016. Vydra was long since unsettled, not a bad thing that he has gone - hopefully to return in a yellow shirt once he has got rid of his manager. Troy knows which side his bread is buttered, particularly after his slow start with us (how much??????) and everything else that has gone on since. The Pozzo's cannot keep every promise but I would expect Troy to be with us all the way. It would be ludicrous for them to sell the main striker when the aim is to get into the Premier League, it would be unwise of him to turn his back on us now. I don't think it will happen: he has the best coach, fantastic team mates and is in the form of his life.
