Seem to remember Joey Barton has a record of getting sent to the stand against Rovers for arguing with the match officials not sure that is the right example to give to the players would not be my choice

Not saying Barton is anybody's cup of tea or is even halfway to being a normal human but there is no doubting he got Fleetwood moving forward. So question was just in footballing terms and definitely not a popularity one. To be fair I wouldn't want him at Argyle either.

Footballing terms - No. Better managers out there. Issue is for us to discuss Barton is difficult because each time we've come up against him he has got himself sent off. For a manager, he has poor discipline and that ain't a good example to the players. Yes he may have done well with them. But he has too much baggage. I don't personally rate him.

Popularity terms - hell no. Can't stand the guy.

First word is "feck" and you can fill in the second yourself Bluebaldee. A clue it begins with an "O".

I think the trouble with league one is the standard has gone up a lot and almost anyone can beat anyone else now. The football has improved no end in the last couple of years and everyone is a passing/footballing side. We lost 6 in a row not long ago and in the last 6 have done really well. Managers are on a hiding to nothing now and maybe sticking with what you have is the best option or at least letting it go for a while and see.

See Keith Curle is high in the betting for the managers job, as Northampton are currently below us and they didn't think he was the man to get up the table then why should we consider him

Very interesting article in Bristol Live on the Bristol Rovers about the Tisdale sacking, Worth a read

I do not have ant great faith in any out of work manager, but I would not support the club if the report today is that Joey Barton is 1to 8 on favorite for the job. The thought brings shivers to me. It is noticeable that Campbell is not priced so he must be not interested,
Please do not get Tony Pulis, we do not want someone who has proven they are failures. Young and a good footballing desire is required. I want the new temporary manager to have all the good luck and best wishes to see this season out. then a new manager

When I threw Joey Barton's name into the ring I did not expect his odds for the job to shorten to such an extent. I'm honestly not his Agent by the way. Odds on favourites don't often get the job when the betting is at this stage anyway.

Joey Barton representatives had a meeting with the Rovers Board over the weekend according to Bristol live. The club have received a message in protest against his appointment. Another name mentioned is the recently departed Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson who has a record of bringing on young players and selling them at a profit.

I really hope that Joey Barton plies his trade at another club, he is currently facing a court appearance for assault of Daniel Stendel the then Barnsley manager for occasioning actual bodily

The club have received a message in protest against his appointment - Quote from Old Timer. 'Protest seconded' by me!! Personally I think he would attract bad press, negativity and general aggro throughout the club, and we don't need any more aggro - quite capable of creating enough of that ourselves!!

I am with you Captain, Barton is not suitable for Rovers long term ,i suspect board looking for this season only, and if Barton does hold us up then they will then look for a rovers type manager, I have given up for this season, I want a long term manager, especially one who does not seem to enjoy fighting with all and sunder when things go wrong
