What do you tip a barber? I just hope it comes to a number where I can let them keep a note. Awkward giving a grown man a pound coin or two. Also why is this the one industry which still doesn’t take a debit card?
Always end up giving em a 20% tip here but a haircut, shave and head/neck massage only comes to 5quid so don't begrudge them the tip.
When I go out with my mates for a bite I always tip - they deserve it for putting up with us. Otherwise I only tip if the service and food has been good - I round up to the nearest £5 but go higher if I've ha a good experience.
I don't tip every time, I just do it every so often. Twenty quid at Christmas for instance. It's fifteen quid a pop now, it's not like it's a fiver anymore so they must earn well enough! Food wise generally 10% if it's good and the service is good, reckon that's fair enough. Taxi drivers can **** off.
Yeah i hate that in the states, the tip section on a receipt! I always tip in cash and strike through that bit.
This is my take on things, if the service and product is pleasing i’ll tip. Now the rant, why should people be obligated to tip in general because the restaurant / pub owner is too tight to pay a living wage? When I did my job well (most of the time) no bugger tipped me. The yanks are the worst example of a tip society, never really enjoyed my many stays there. Rant over.
Cash used to be just for beer and ***s. Don't even use it for that now and hardly ever have cash on me.
