Stoke's central midfield is arguably their weakest area so I don't think is quite as disastrous as it could have been. As long as Cabaye and Guthrie/Abeid/Smith(??!!) are alert to pick up the second balls and are smart enough to distribute it wisely then I don't see Tiote being too much of a loss in this fixture. He'd be missed more against a team who like to play it through the midfield a la Chelsea, Everton, Man City etc etc

perhaps moreimportantly will pardew keep his faith in marv and benny even after average performances or take the easy option and just play the bogo 442 he seems so faithful to

I know which is why it would be OK as Cabaye and Guthrie can slice teams open with one pass

When I was drunk in Qatar chatting to a bloke from Oran, he was trying to teach me basic Berber for a laugh and I failed miserably and managed to create a new language...

One suspects the 4-4-2 that has seen us extremely successfully in the league...

yh i guess... aslong as we avoid what happened last season *coughs* and looks at perch 2 goals in 5 mins from set peices when theyve only had 1 shot on target imo that was a worse game than the 4-0 because we acctually deserved to win tht one

Abeid has a better passing range than Guthrie from what I've seen. I'd rather Abeid started next to Dreamboat than any other player if Tiote's out.

Hated the 4 nil, scoreline didn't really reflect the game at all.

Weren't we playing 5 at the back though, with Sol? <yikes>

As long as we don't play that stupid 5-4-1 formation again we should be OK

Sol was non existent, we might as well have played 10 men.

I'm seriously beginning to wonder if that was Pardew's plan all along.
But I still expect Guthrie will start I'm afraid.

Was a daft line up. Jonas on the bench and Sol in the starting line up.
