He is right now though we need him and I'm absolutely right I'm afraid. Sell in the summer if my some miracle we stay up but ffs not now it's lunacy
Modern game mate you can't stop him. Mcclaren doesn't want rid, he picks him. Tiote has wanted out for ages. He wants the Chinese money, you'll get **** all out of him if you refuse. He took a massive huff last season and feigned injury.
Say au revoir and move on. If we could shift Cisse, I'd be fairly pleased as we really need an entire bunch who want to be here.
I think people are missing my point here mate. Now isn't a time to gamble he's playing well and that grit could keep us up. Don't sell anyone until summer that's currently playing well. The next 3 games will Litterally decide our fate the
Well half right. It was a bad idea to sell Santon (don't think anyone disagreed with you to be honest), but I don't think we ended up getting relegated?
Santon would have been absolutely mint in this formation up on the left side of midfield and would have been superb in the 352 (potentially). Rather him than Thauvin all day long, plus we'd have an extra £10m in the bank.
Thing is he actually wanted to be here and liked it here. He was unhappy when out of the side like most but seemed genuinely miffed to be sold by Carver.
Reports he's on his way to China for £8m. We've got a good deal for that price now spend it on a PL experienced player. Looks like another one of our targets is going elsewhere as Everton bid of £4m for Sam Byram of Leeds has been accepted.
Totally agree. Would have had no issue in the summer or for 12 months previously but he's finally back and playing decent again and we're going to sell him for peanuts and replace him with a french winger and a 23 year old gamble. Of all the areas of the pitch to mess with central midfield was my least concern, not because it's great but it was comparably 'less ****' than most.
Again though, in the modern game can you actually stop him. McClaren doesn't want him to leave. He picks when he is fit. The problem is if you have Tiote saying "I want out, I want the chinese money, my career is nearly over" then you stop him, given his postering last season what will you have? A guy not trying taking up a squad number and a wage while giving you nothing. He'll just feign injury again. In an ideal world we keep him, in reality we don't even have a choice.
Again what does appear different is now we have someone in Steve making a better decision. That's a change, we've held gun to the head previously, and look where it's got us. Retirement for Carr and I'll be tempted to feel optimistic again.
The Guardian are reporting that Tiote has agreed personal terms with Shanghai Shenhua and that the £8 million transfer should be completed next week. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/jan/15/chieck-tiote-move-shanghai-shenhue
