I'm sure someone will be along to say it's the players fault because they all have an attitude problem. Even though it seems fairly widespread and they have their careers tied up in the success of the club.
I’ve not really seen any of the players say anything negative about Walter, I must be looking in the wrong places.
No one is going to come out and slag him off - but read between the lines. No one is saying how sorry they are he's gone or what a great coach he was
The first thing Palmer said in his interview was "I haven't been playing as much as I think I should have been".
There are ways of making your feelings known without explicitly slagging someone off, and that has been fairly apparent not just now but over the last weeks also, but I think if you asked any player who wasn't starting every week the same question, I'd expect them to say the same thing. They're not about to go "yeah, I'm a bit **** so it's fair enough" -there'd be something very wrong if they did.
I think Daws emphasising the importance of man management and trust between the players and coaches spoke volumes as well as Palmers interview. Coyle blatantly backed the players to get them out of the mess as opposed to backing the manager on Tuesday night too.
He was asked how he felt about Walter going and that was his response. It's the fact that was his first thought that is telling.
Yeah, that is telling. I've actually been quite impressed with the way Palmer speaks to the press Tbh. He communicates what he feels but not in a disrespectful manner. Was the same when he was speaking about his move from Coventry. Basically said they offered him a **** deal to stay so he came here in quite an adept, diplomatic way.
Palmers yet to do it for me. A lot of folk get on Ömürs back because of end product, but he works hard at both ends of the pitch and does the simple things better than most if not every player in the team. Palmer has shown bravery in his passing intent but has so far been as ineffective as Omur in terms of end product but without the other sides to his game.
Palmer has (effectively) two goals for the season both against Stoke, and had our two best efforts against Luton. Omur has one assist in a Cup game.
2 goals to 1 assist. Palmer hauled us across the line against Stoke and has looked bright and effective in most other appearances. Same can't be said for Omur. Comparing them as equals is crazy.
I thought it was an odd comparison too. It was Kasey's ball for Regan's big chance too. That's a pretty decent output in less than 500 minutes.
Omur has just 2 assists in about 1800 minutes for us in the league.
Well your focusing on numbers for a start which are weak for both players, I'm taking about all sides of the game. You mentioned our 2 best efforts against Luton (misses or saves? either way...). How on earth is it crazy to compare them? Also Ömür has provided opportunities that have been missed too, he's also missed chances and had them saved, what good is that?
As someone just mentioned, Palmer has done his bits in less minutes so maybe he goes on to do well but for now I'm unconvinced.
