I could think of far worse, even though I wasnt a fan of his as England manager. Would certainly command respect from the players, attract quality and get results (not that it will happen)
He’d have a very hard job to achieve what he did as England manager. It would probably be a wise choice, it can’t really get any better can it? He’d have to get league/champions league wins to improve on his record.
I think Southgate would be a divisive appointment for any English club in the top two tiers, as there are a lot who weren't happy with many of his views. Add to that, the passing around at the back, and I think we would see meltdowns within weeks!
Also why are we only "commencing" a search for a new manager? We've just had an international break, surely at least put feelers out.
i take no enjoyment in tims sacking, its not just him going, its the other 3 assistants and their familes too i just hope we find the right man whatever
I take enjoyment in the hoped for change in on field performance. We support the club, its OK to focus on that. Tim will be well compensated.
I think they are just covering their backs as far as Tim is concerned - ie we haven’t been scouting the managerial market for several weeks - otherwise Acun’s statements backing his man would be shown as blatant lies. We 100% have been looking and making tentative enquiries…we’ll now just progress these.
Someone did post that Robbins has stated he'd definitely be interested if it came up... cant remember who or which thread.
