Personally I like the long summer evenings so I'd go with that and take darker winter mornings as the downside as I don't do much on winter mornings anyways.

I have a hilarious story(which is actually true) when I was over watching the Sons of William playing against Bayer Laverkausen. We were all on the buses getting a police escort from the airport and the police cars stopped on the road by a very densely wooded area, so obviously all our buses had to stop too. Some **** at the front of our bus shouted out, "right lads, if they ask us to get off the bus and stretch our legs, no **** move!" It was obviously a reference to the epic film, The Great Escape and it was funny as **** at the time. Think it was my 2nd European trip away with the Gers. We won 2-1, think Johanson scored twice for us.

So now the EU is trying to dictate our time so in June it's light at 3am. It started with our weights and measures. Then our waters. Then who we can deport and not deport. What next? They'll rename us Airstrip 1 soon.

They tried not changing the clocks here in the 60's when Dev was in his 30s and supposedly it was a disaster as Dev wasn't killed by a trolley bus.

I'd go for long summers, I am sure others would disagree.

We always had the plight of the farmers or kids in Scotland held up as the reason for BST. Never known what a farmer can't do at 09:00 that usually gets done at 07:00, surely if there is a fixed amount of daylight in a winters day you'd just get up a bit later, at least that way you get a decent lie-in.

 

With farmers it largely depends on what time the cock starts up.
