I have a picture too of the police trying to force the gate shut & people climbing over. It amazes me seeing again the thousands of fans, including me, locked out that night.
On a happier note my ballot card DID come up so my ticket for the final was secure but my boyfriend wasn't so lucky. We had heard that tickets were to be had, under the counter so to speak, from the White Hart. We were very innocent, law abiding folk (in those days) and not sure how to approach this covert mission but being desperate for one more ticket decided to give it a go. We went in, bought a drink & sat there wondering what to do next. Three rounds later we finally plucked up courage to ask the barman who produced a fistful of tickets at £4.00 each. £4.00!!! That was a fortune! My honestly acquired ticket was 3/6 (17 &halfp) and his was nearly a weeks wages. Still, it was worth it. To be at the Cup Final the day they won the double - priceless.

Any place, any time? I'd be tempted, first of all, to be on Bayern Muenchen's bench right before a certain corner and yell, "You might want to ****ing watch ****ing Drogba at the ****ing near post!"

...to make Fabio Capello an offer he couldn't refuse to continue as England manager until the end of the year.

...to hand-remove all mention of the word lasagna from a certain restaurant's menus.

But, really, the FA cup final in 1962 would be amazing.

Having watched every side since 1948 to the present and given the time travelling skill Iwould bring the double team plus Jimmy Greaves to todays date and see them minus really muddy pitches wearing miners boots and playing with a ball that increased in weight minute by minute in wet muddy conditions

The dream of seeing John White Dave M and Danny B feeding Jim G and Bobby Smith on snooker table pitches would be enthrauling

Remember that side created lovely passing pattens in 60s conditions whilst being tough and strong enough to deal with both the teams and pitches of the time

I suppose my other abiding memory of those days was trudging along the terraces on the way out, wading through, and crunching down, thousands of discarded Percy Dalton's peanut shells!...and wondering which poor sod had to sweep all this mess up!..

The spectacle of all those fans WALKING home and bringing traffic on Tottenham High Road to a halt.60-70,000 fans really was something!
    The one sheet Spurs programme.
A little later stopping by the Spurs Supporters Club looking for away programmes.John Harris looking like he wished he was somewhere else!
Fans on bikes trying to run you down.
Rushing out later to buy the Star,News and Standard to read about the game you've just watched.Always nice....when we've won!

I'd like to go back to the days when I could get in the Paxton End as a kid for 50p. Oh how we moaned when they wouldn't accept that we were under 16 any more and we had to pay a WHOLE QUID!! <laugh>

Yeah, I remember being on the Shelf for the UEFA cup final in 1984 and I'm sure there were far more than our official capacity of 52,000 in the stadium that night. My main memory of that game is spending the whole first half completely unable to move and absolutely dying for a pee, too chicken to pee right there because we were jammed up against a bunch of nasty looking skinheads!

I remember when you used to get lairy kids in the queue, smoking and all mouth.
The Old Bill came up and dragged em out of the queue and said get in the adult one.
When they used to then whine about being U16, Plod replied : you smoke, you're an adult.
They used to have to give up ALL their ciggies to stay in the queue. :D

Watch Goon 606 mouth off that we'll never get out of our planetary group.

I wish I could travel back to the 60/61 era. Seeing Spurs be the dominant force of English football must've been an absolute joy.

Also the 81/82 season. Where we won the FA Cup with THAT goal. Having players like Villa, Ardlies, Hoddle, Archibald, Miller, Crooks, Roberts, Perryman and co must also have been an absolute joy.

I think we are quite close to that 81/82 side now with similar attributes and potential. Of course if 3 or 4 of our new signings come good we could be even better.
