Bill go and read some old threads some are comical. Didn't read the 2nd page of this one, so hadn't noticed so much of bc input. Do the asamoah dance, has stuck to his guns about henderson for months, so right or wrong fair play to him. Some old names, whatever happened to them?
I've likened him to a young McNamara before. Sometime back, I recalled a young and exciting Liverpool player who tore a gaping ar*ehole out of the Sunderland defence on a day the lads looked second best, May 1992ish. He hasn't shown very much of what we saw of the final third of last season, when he was carving up experienced defenders on that right hand side. Good find Comm, the sum 20 million being mentioned and all. Jeezus we got some ****ing numbnuts on this forum - the clamour at this time was that he wasn't good enough for the first team at mid-table Sunderland. Now people are screaming we should have kept him if we are to have our carpet and eat it, like a more ambitious Liverpool side. Why do I have the impression they're the same people?
Funny how people's mind change in a few short months mate. exept dtad Was it coincedence that the figure of 20m was mentioned there.
For a lad several posters deemed '****e' he went for a bloody lot of money and was courted by SAFC, Wenger and Mancini none the less, before KK came in. All 4 are hardly novices in the spot a canny player stakes. I've said it before and I'll state it again. Henderson was a young lad barely 2 years into a professional career. He was still learning his trade and although his form dipped, his class wont IMO. He will go on to become a household name and be one of the very best home grown players we have produced for 30 years or more. Sadly, for me anyway, that wont be in his home town colours. A sad fact but one that has a historical ring to it. I have no doubts about that at all.
The strange thing is that SAF asked to be informed if Jordan was up for sale. I assume he was notified but he didn't try to compete with Liverpool. Maybe he thought the amounts being offered for him were more than he was worth.
