I agree that CP shouldn't have changed the keeper half way through today since thta would have been a death knell to Hamers confidence. However, He should not have started either Tuesday or Saturday. Sullivan is a more than competent keeper and it would have been simple to have rested Hamer for the match after his injury the previous Saturday and let Sully have a start. Anybody know what the ruckus was about in the NWQ today. normally a place of peace and tranquility but saw the stewards piling in. Close enough to see but not know waht went on. Somebody escorted from the stand today and a fair bit of blood pressure being raised from the look of it in the process.
Yeah I saw that, no clue what was going on either, lots of stewards and police turned up too... lots of finger pointing, once finger pointing is there you know something is going on
I have now reconsidered my view on Hamer. He must be dropped. The defence have lost confidence in him and it is now affecting Morro and Taylor who do not want to pas the ball back. Morro's body language after Hamer was beaten by another long range shot for notts co's first goal today told me all I need to know. After the third I thought he was going to deck him! He has to be dropped.
It's not time to rest Hamer, but drop him. 2 massive mistakes, but he also looks short on confidence too. It's not the end if him, not by a stretch, but 2 mistakes in 2 games (defeats).. That will take its toll.
Who`d be a keeper eh....his confidence has gone though BUT today his defence totaly let him down as well. I`m a voice in the wilderness BUT I`d keep him in at scunny I really would. The 2 great strikes we`ve let in first v col u then today knocked the stuffing out of us.
Brace yourselves... http://www.cafc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10267~2689618,00.html I think the rest may be on hold for a while.
Shows how misleading simple statistics can be. To be fair Hamer himself acknowedges this and gives full credit to his back four. Trouble is that superficial statistics are always used in allocating these silly awards. For instance "Manager of the Year" will either be Fergie or Mancini, when it should be Rodgers or Lambert.
I think hamer is a decent keeper and as i`ve said before has won us more games than he`s cost us....his shot stopping is quality very similar to rob elliott for me.
Agreed, FHB - and here's someone else who agrees as well - http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...-man-can-make-all-the-difference-7583942.html
The current threads were going a bit stale, so i thought i'd stir this one up again, as it obviously got to the emotional juices of some of our following ! I think Hamer is the best goalie outside Prem and Champs, and his distribution is brilliant, and footwork is second to none. I have also wondered if he might be the one to take the penalties in Jackos absence, a bit like that Portuguese goalie who took the pens.
Three brilliant saves in the Orient game, some of the best I've ever seen from a Charlton goal keepeer. I hope they show them in the highlights.
have to agree Hamer had a good game with only one mistake in distribution. His save from Matt Spring, I think, was top drawer and he appears to be playing through back to form. Our regular March wobble may well be behind us now (the ides of march always get us, probably find Caesar planted a flag on the centre spot in 55bc).
Yeah, i agree - Hamer should be dropped and sold - i mean, he's only had 20 clean sheets all season - how disgusting is that ???????
