yes ,it's just a pity he wasn't as complimentary in January he's had to win quite a few over but he's ours at the moment so I'll support him although there's still a few around me yet to be convinced

Keeps performing as he has the last 2-3 games for the rest of the season and I'd say we should keep him.

My worry is that he may be saying, finally, that he likes it here simply because he has no where to go.

He's soon to hit 30, he's been crap the majority of time he's been here and add his televised feint to his portfolio and you have to ask, who would want to pay good money for him? No one with any common sense that's for sure.

Lets see how he performs in the remaining, non pressure, games we have left but personally I want to see him perform in a tense crunch game but we'll have to waite until next year for that and by that time we'll have bought Aleksandar Mitrovic. Doh!, dammit, I just got an errection

I hope we sign him. Him and Gomis fighting for the starting spot is only a win win situation for us <ok>

Would I love that Valley but who ever we sign will be signed as the main man with Gomis as understudy. If we try to sign competition for Gomis then no one of any consequence will come here. We wont be seeing Mitrovic if we approach him wti the proposition of competing for his place. The only way someone of the calber we're seeking will come is iff we offer them the Striker 'job'.

Gomis will cameo and start in cup competitions but he'll have to play second fiddle imo. I feel if we're going to improve next year, and after this year it will be a tough ask, we will have to be ambitious in our key signings and gettinf someone for Gomis to compete with is not the answer. We will need someone who will blow gomis out of the water next season.

How would you react if in your job if you were getting the comments he has got because of outsiders not knowing the facts and work the club knows he is putting in. Monk and the players kept telling everyone how good he is in training and will eventually transfer that onto the pitch but some fans think they know better than the club......A lesson to be learned here in dont condemn a player when you dont know what your talking about and listen to the club who do know the facts.......

It's not the performances Dai, it's the bollocks he spouted off with in January trying to force a move through that has put him on thin ice with so many fans (myself included).

Thanks for the lecture Dai <ok>

I'll simplify what I mean. If we did sign Mitrovic then it wont matter one jott how well Gomis is training, or how well he is playing, Mitrovic, or someone of his level (and age), will be first on the team sheet ahead of Gomis. Also what do we do with Emnes?

We'll see what happens though Dai and I sincerely hope Gomis can be as good as his promise. My problem though remains the same, Gomis will be 30 next season and Strikers don't mature like centre backs or defenders, they just go off; Van Persie being a prime example.

What happens then if gomis scores for fun in the run in Which is a distinct possibility. He has got to be given the no 1 roll for next year then at tthe start at least. Has he really been that bad i would say far from it just needed one to go in off anything and it did. Lets wait and see hopefully we will have a major battle for the striker berth in the new season

Agree here. The next 7 games are huge for Gomis imo. Fail to deliver in these final games and if Monk can get Mitrovic, I think we will see Gomis moved on. If he does score a few goals and plays well and we do sign Mitrovic, it gives us great firepower options going into the new season.

Will anyone take a punt on gomis after the fainting incident though so it could work for us that no one wants to chance it next year and he grows yet again (optimist ). me. We could end up with gomis surpassing bony as he has the intelligence to grow within the team if he is settled and not had his head turned

No he hasn't bep, I agree. In March he was great but for a long time before that, barely average.

But being good in March doesn't offer sufficient evidence to persuade me that he's 'our man' for next season. My worry being, he plays superbly until end of season, we go with him and sign accordingly then next season he regresses back to poor form. We'll have missed a summer of opportunity to progress, on little more than hope. If I was Monk I'd have my list ready now and Gomis can work around us not the other way around.

Bony was exactly the same when he first arrived it takes time to settle in unfortunately some fans make none or little allowance for this. He is a quality player and we are now beginning to reap the rewards. He will be our first choice striker next season there is no doubting it. Many pundits are now recognising this and singing his praises Jamie Carragher and Alan Shearer to name a couple. He's a quality player with a bright future at the club.
