Ok, but I'm talking about Leeds United not the other 91 league clubs. Your trying to spend money (which the fans will pay rather than the club and it will cost considerably more than the one-off costs) for a system that isn't even guaranteed to work, in fact I'd warrant a guess that it'd get a reaction and would do the opposite of helping. I didn't even outline cost as my main concern but it would certainly be a problem that clubs wouldn't be willing to pay
Well you are off topic then as I clearly stated in the Article that this idea would be for certain leagues and clubs, not just Leeds United. Although lots of lovely fans would like to believe this only happens at Leeds United games, it happens all over the show. Clubs and the sport as a whole is paying for it already.
Yeah, I know, instead of reading a short booklet of 17 Laws, so much easier to go to games, yell and scream ignorance.
No, no, & on yer bike! I'm 54 & very fat. You also need to know what draws my vitriol out. It's mostly generated by refereeing inconsistency & sheer blindness. Example 1 on Tuesday night - Becchio booked for kicking a ball into the stand after letting it run over the byeline. Harsh for the 1st half, considering the rule was introduced to stop time wasting. Fair enough, rules are rules. A short while later, their striker (Hulse?) was blown offside. He continued well after the whistle, then had a shot on goal. Booked? Spoken to? Nope. Nowt to do with the rulebook. Clear infringements by both, different punishments. Example 2 on Tuesday night - Almost every Leeds player that went up for a header ( & there was a lot of hoofball!!) was shoved in the back. Some of the most awful, blatant examples happened right in front of the ref or linesman, or both, and were generally ignored. I may not have read a rule book for some time, but I don't think there's a written rule saying that blatantly shoving players in the back whilst they're jumping is permitted. End of counter rant.
Deffo handball. I couldn't believe it! It was such blatant cheating and I'm glad we got away with it (but shouldn't!). What surprises me though is that when there is blatant cheating like that, the player isn't charged by the FA after the match. Should be the same for all cheating, including 'simulation'. I'd love really heavy penalties for cheating, and have an exponential punishment system for it - e.g. 2 match ban for 1st offence, 4 matches next time, then 8, 16, 32 etc. That would soon stamp it out. I've added the exponential part myself, but the original suggestion came from a certain Mr Pierreluigi Collina - a ref I never, ever shouted at. Huge respect to him.
Not sure what you are on about. At the bottom left hand corner there is a timer, clip is 0.55. Can you direct us to the timer number at which this alleged incident appears to have maybe occurred?
I know what your suggesting. But it would be funded by the fans of clubs, all ticket prices would rise. And in fairness it is only a certain number of club and outside of those 6 or 7 clubs even fewer incidents occur. Its not like this is happening 5 times a week at all different games every week. This happens once in a blue moon and the chanting is freedom of speech, whether you agree with the chants or not you can't get offended by a crowd chanting at a football game, if you do then you probably shouldn't be there. More to the point, the police are doing an OK job, they could do better admittedly but to have a group of specialized police force is overkill
Completely agree Jock - think the same punishment should be handed out to officials too - you can't tell me that all 4 officials missed that - they should be given a 2 game ban from officiating - incidents like this should see longer bans - if this had happened at either The Den or Elland Road there would have been uproar to say the least
I am just trying to clarify if it is the same incident in which Becchio is clearly shoved by their #4, which results in his arms being thrown forward and the following incidental ball contact. There that makes the wind-up 100%.
