"Look how far we've come is sentimental and unhelpful". With respect this is rather a silly quote, without a past there is no future. To look back to see how far we've come is extremely important it's looking back that helps shape the future, things you did well, along with things you did badly, learning from mistakes is all so very important.
"It's that mentality that annoys Jenkins" is also wide of the mark, Huw places great emphasis on the past and continually outlines where we are and where we came from. It's a continuous learning curve with a great deal of emphasis placed on improving the good things we did whilst at the same time learning from our past mistakes. I also see no correlation whatsoever between 'looking back' and 'playing badly'.

"Look how far we've come is sentimental and unhelpful" too true - great to have the past (when we're on the up) but it doesn't help to improve playing style.
"Look how we used to play" would be more helpful.

but there is of course a difference between going on an amazing run for a season or two and being a the worlds biggest.. Manchester united, real madrid, barcelona and then what swansea would have to do is like PSG & Manchester city not quite as legendary names but they have dough to keep players like bony!!!!

""It's that mentality that annoys Jenkins" is also wide of the mark" You miss my point by quite a long way Mr Sbulby. I was referring to the fact that Jenkins used to get annoyed frequently at Laudrup's apparent belief that we could never challenge the big boys. This is a fact because it's a matter of public record. I actually agree with Jenkins on this. I never said that Jenkins isn't proud of our past as we all are.

When anyone says "with respect" to me I know it's going to be followed by some condescending remark. I'm sure you didn't intend that Mr Sbulby :) but as for me making "silly quotes" I'll watch myself in future. What do I know, being just a silly girlie? <diva>But I think the point I make is far from "silly" and is perfectly valid. I'm sure Monk's team talks aren't about how far we've come but on how we win the game.

History is important for us fans and I've agreed with that. But for some fans, improving as a team, entertaining us along the way and winning matches tops it. Just my opinion. But I'm really not silly, honest. Just logical. :emoticon-0110-tongu

In light of your OP then sbulby, why would we jeopardise all this by reintroducing another Petty to the board at Swansea City, in John Moores? the man's a vulture of the highest order, and it's a shame he never saw the inside of jail cell for the way his company defrauded share holders of hundred's of millions of dollars over the years. He was once described by one state senator as "He came in like a Mafia don, spreading money around,", I hope the Trust get to grips with this cowboy good and proper, the Jack Army need to know what a dodgy slime ball we are shaking hands with..................<ok>

No dragon I'm not for a minute advocating the proposed investment by the Americans, I was only stating that it is about to happen, whether we like it or not. Like most on here I have reservations over this investment programme. As I stated earlier the huge profits that several board members will undoubtedly receive will possibly cloud their judgement on such a serious club changing issue. If they were prepared to plough any personel profits they make back into the club I would feel far happier about any decision they decide on.

As I said some months back, I do not see this either as an investment, but more as a board re-shuffle, where we will now have some very unprincipled directors having influence, I find it difficult to be upbeat about this given the track record of John Moores...........<ok>

Dragon you have to trust our board members as im sure as hell they would not put the club at risk. They have never let us down before and im sure they know what they are doing....they will know more about the Americans than any rag out to sell pepers and certainly more than you or me...

we have no choice than to trust them and know that they are doing the right thing for the right reasons.

I'm with Dragon. Very sceptical and concerned about the way we're going.

Mr Sbulby <hug> You're such a sweetie.:emoticon-0103-cool:
